DCS Yak-52

Its individual I would say. What is more interesting about his coment imo is that there are people coming to DCS ( World ) because of the civi planes. What is good sign.

Hope we will see more civies coming to DCS.

I’ll beat my pet drum about DCS, we need better nav aides for civilian flying, and a LOT more of them. I’m pretty my little slice on central Texas has more VOR’s than the DCS maps combined.

Comrade, who you think we are? Idiot capitalists with guided smartphones? In Russia, real man fly with glorious eyeball of motherland, fly course on compass, sometimes smell of Dmitri’s vodka.

Not to mention the ATC and AWACs need a major overhaul to the point where they are actually useful.

What’s wrong with AWACS? it could certainly be improved, but it’s not useless by any means.

So, the Val is completed!
First and foremost, this couldn’t have happened without @PorcoRosso86 templates, so
 Dude, you’re my hero!
Second
I can’t do the props blur in motion as of now because it’s a godawful time sink for very little gain.
It doesn’t look horrible anyways.

Actually
I think the black sides of the nose should be arcing a bit
 Uhm

Well that’s for version 2.o

Sorry to be contrarian but I don’t want DCS to be all things to all users. DCS has a specific funtion and it performs that function well. I just don’t see it as ever being a good civilian sim in much the same way that I don’t foresee MS Excel as ever being good photo editor.

Why do I care? Because if DCS starts offering users the navigable world at it’s current prices, it will become even more bloated and buggy
and expensive.

I think the point is more about DCS giving all sorts of tools to modules makers.
ED has, IMO, a good idea of where to go- that doesn’t exclude fleshing out also non combat related apsects of flying

I’m willing to elaborate better but not.on the phone. Typing like this is killing me.

I agree! ED should stick to what they do best.
In order for DCS to ever become a civilian flightsim, they need to open up for modders in a big way.

But I don’t mind a civilian airplane in DCS, now and then

As well as campaign/mission designers. Should the possibility of a career mode come up, then something like a Yak-52 would allow a start from a basic trainer, then up to advanced, before finally transitioning to a selected aircraft. Done right, this can be a lot of fun, even for sim veterans.

Totally, think about Take On Helicopters!

Fixed it
 Also added another detailing.
Hope anyone likes it. Still uses the same download link.

Arguably the Yak is aligned with the primary mission behind the platform: Providing a desktop sim environment for professional aviators. the first 2 modules, Black Shark and Warthog, were borne of military contracts for a desktop simulator to gain systems familiarity. The very concept of there being a consumer version of those products is in and of itself a diverging path from that mission.

Taken on those terms, one could argue the Yak has more in common with the KA-50 and the A-10C modules than any of the recently released third party modules.

I’m still not buying it till there’s a sale though.

I agree. I wasn’t referring to the Yak specifically (even though its the yak thread).

Actualy I dont expect DCS being competition to XP or P3D.
But as there are people who just fire DCS for some quick dogfight or mudmoving there could be people who will fire DCS for some patern work and aerobatics.
After all its Free2Play

This was right along my chain of thought; Take On Helicopters fizzled out a bit on the end result, but I see a very real possibility for similar in DCS. Further, we have to keep in mind that while a lot of us may have cut our teeth on sims since the 80s and 90s, there are a lot of people who haven’t – and there’s a dearth of games that portray flying at all nowadays. Sure, they might grab the bug first because it’s cool, but they might be readily discouraged by the complexity and thus throw it aside, never to play it again. Being able to catch these people and say “Hey, there’s something a bit easier to get started with, oh and it has this cool and fun campaign to go with it!” just might get them to invest long-term in the sim.

Yeah, I don’t think of a Yak-52 a civilian aircraft. Although, in my fantasies (Trade-A-Plane), I’ve begun the process of making a strong argument for one to the finance manager

Forget Trade-a-Plane. Barnstormers is where its at!
