DiRT Rally 2.0

The sounds cuts out on my regular setup from time to time as well. Seems to be a random bug.

Huge patch dropped today and it looks like continued work on VR to add to what was done in v1.9. Audio work done in both 1.9 and 1.10.

Anyone tried it with WMR/Steam? I had been holding off…

It’s on the Xbox game pass for PC, so could try it out, plus lots more for $1

I don’t think it works anymore @BeachAV8R, or rather not the version that comes with Gamepass. Best place to hunt down info would be here on down… GitHub - LibreVR/Revive: Play Oculus-exclusive games on the HTC Vive or Valve Index, scroll down for downloads and installation instructions.

@BeachAV8R - I’ve been playing Dirt Rally 2 for a bit. It’s really nice, and I prefer it to the first one. The rally stages are exhausting in VR as you can imagine. Works great in WMR if bought on Steam.

It would have been nice to get a snow stage, but the DLC is pretty cheap (like $4 or something for Sweden etc).

It was one of my choices of the Humble thing I got grandfather’d into here (they are always steam keys):

You using a wheel or an X-Box controller?

I don’t have a wheel, and the Xbox One controller I have seems nice to use.

You could increase the immersion by 200% by using a FF wheel and pedals, even a rather simple one like the Thrustmaster T150 (I have that one).

For me it was a real game changer.

The DLC ‘upgrade packages’ are part of this weekend’s Steam Lunar Sale, so I might get the snowy tracks that way.

I got a Wheel Stand Pro for Christmas and now I have my wheel and pedals set up perfectly for Dirt Rally 2 and Project Cars.
I fly DCS regularly in VR and find it soothing and relaxing but 20 minutes in VR Dirt Rally and I’m a sweating and quivering wreck. I have to psyche myself up for the Greek stage, it’s immersion at its best.
The wheel and pedals are a game changer.

Some days the rally gods smile upon you.

Unfortunately, I’m currently convalescing from a total knee replacement. It’s living up to its billing and making the hip replacement that I had in May look like a walk in the park. Before you go about insulting my age and calling me grandpa, etc., please be advised that said cyborg upgrades will only make me stronger, quicker, and more agile. Easily quicker in a rally car.

Do they make gaming wheels with hand controls  hope recovery goes well

Thanks Mudcat. It’s my left leg, so if I can figure out how to elevate it and use auto clutch, I should be OK. Want to try some this weekend.

Should probably get around to it myself, but I believe they finally added in clubs or whatever they are called to do leagues like in the first one. If people finally hop on board that is.

About to pick up the super deluxe version myself. Looks another VR impulse buy.

Also praying for a Season 5 DLC that includes a Baja 1000 section and a Gen 1 Raptor.

A letter to the DiRT Rally community hinting at the future. It appears that a separate team is developing the next version of Dirt (#) while DR3 is in the works. Hopefully, this means that they won’t be sharing human resources. We can be thankful that Codemasters feels it fruitful enough to develop for sim fans as much as those who prefer a “lite” rally experience, which is a great many considering the number of YT videos shot from arcade view.

And a fan submitted a superb DR2 tribute video. While I prefer driving in VR, this makes me long for a high resolution experience. Well, at least wish for the ability to save replays and be able to edit on a monitor after a rally.

A very nice livery manager for the Dirt and Dirt Rally series. I’ve just installed my first livery, the M-Sport R5 Fiesta 2018. RD forum discussion. Just an FYI, this manager does not require you to edit the default .nfs files. To restore your original skins, delete the new folder within the \cars folder of the same name as the original skin. Also, it will not replace the generic looking skins (AKA crappy skins), just the detailed skins. Those are usually, but not always skin #1 in game (skin 0 in the folder). For instance, the Ford Fiesta R5 DMACK car (livery 1 in-game) and the DR/PlaySeats car (livery 8 in-game) can be changed, but not the other generic looking cars. I might do a guide if I can figure out most of the functionality.
