Thanks to some great detective work of debugcom, we can finally fly the “Secret Airstrip” missions in Libya and North Cape scenarios in F-117 Stealth Fighter 2.0! Previously these missions were only available in Persian Gulf.

Debugcom decumented his findings here:

Edit:
I’ve added Steam Guide on how to apply the fix:

That’s amazing!

Old school F1 racing on Hockenheim with the old layout. Goeff Crammond made brilliant games back in 80s and 90s.

I played a ton of that one including MP over a local modem cable.

Aaah! F1GP for the Amiga…
The subject for my first sim pit build.

It was so amazing for its time. The sense of speed was much better than the competitors and it accepted proportional controls, which made the driving so much more realistic.

Yeah, fot the time the depiction of circuit topography was really well done. I saw some YT videos with comparison to RL footage, it was very accurate.

Wow, that looks really impressive for its day. I didn’t play serious racing games back then, so I missed this, but I hear it’s a great one.

Yeah it is. The PC port was even better with 256 color VGA graphics and smooth 25FPS gameplay. I still play it to this day. And with DOSBox you can even configure the modern steering wheels with pedals to work with that game (with full analog steering, accelerator and brake).

Wow look, folks are even still making stuff for it:

I might have to snag a copy:

I recently learned that there was special version of Chuck Yeager’s Air Combat specifically prepared for the Gravis Ultrasound card which featured more music and better sound.

I hunted for the copy of the game and drivers for the Ultrasound (both can be found on Internet Archive) and gave it a go.

It surely is a big step up from FM synth sound of AdLib and early SoundBlaster.

I do remember reading about Gravis in the PC magazines of the ‘90s (probably the early 90s?) but never saw or heard one until now!

Honestly I was just happy with what Sound Blaster gave us compared to the internal speaker :joy:

An overview, on the off-chance other nerds like me who love the details of these ancient and now useless components happen across this thread :+1:

I wouldn’t call the old hardware useless. There is a retro gaming scene and GUS cards seem to still sell for hundreds of dollars.

I remember how static filled Chuck’s comments were when they played over the speakers. Not like a period radio but like a record from that era playing on a needle from that era…
