Elite Dangerous 2.2 Guardians release date!

That’s not terrible, only 87 ly away. I’m in Ross 695 at Bresnick Orbital. Haven’t played since June though. Just need to make sure I have a ship with around 18ly jump range or I can’t get there lol.

Last night was a learning experience for me, as I’ve never actually deployed my SRV in combat. I took the time after we called it quits to go over and refine my controls, and I discovered quite a bit of unassigned commands, specifically for driving. I’ll be ready for the next drop.

I definitely don’t even have an SRV. I only have something like 1.5M credits with a Viper mkIV as my main ship. I am a nub.

I just upgraded my Type 6 for serious capitalism. All of the upgrades cost less than it would take to put an A rated shield in my Vulture.

It’s time to go turn some profits :sunglasses:

Ferengi-wise, profits are down in 2.2 for me unfortunately. I had finally got to friendly with a couple of system factions and it looks like they nerfed all the shorter Boom time deliveries in the nick of time. Over-night for me it’s gone from $300k mission to about $15k :frowning:

I think it’s part of the Sothis nerf and maybe needs a further tweaked. It seems like the exploit du jour is stacking Skimmer kill missions and relogging lots.

I did a couple of short passenger missions and they seem fairly annoying so far. I was dropping off a couple of tourists and literally about 100 feet above the destination pad on a planet they go ‘Yeah, we want to go to friggin Dalton Gateway now, please thanks’. For that 30 minutes of my life I got $55k, which is in the Biowaste territory. Next up is I’m going to try a couple of those 200ly tourist missions, as although lots of jumps they at least pay a bit better.

How big a ship do you need for a passenger module? What’s the impact on jump range of installing one and then loading it up?

I’ve never tried one of those skimmer kill missions because I have zero idea what they look like (half-hearted searching availed little to no useful info) so I went with easier stuff.

Sidewinders can have passenger modules I believe, with only the big cruisers (Beluga etc) having the ability to do First Class Cabins. When you replace something like a 16t cargo module then you get a choice of Economy or Business cabins to slot in there. The impact seems to be the same as the cargo module, although I’ve not checked in detail.

Missions seem to now have more emphasis on faction standings. My favourite (smuggling) missions seem to have been pushed to a new guy on the block.

So i may have to bide my time with him.

It was a really good night last night. Elite multiplayer, is definitely where the fun is.

I don’t think I’ll be free tonight, but I’m definitely gonna be online tomorrow. I’m still refining my control scheme, but it’ll be worth it when I’m done.

Hmm. That’s a bit annoying because rep is so hard to grind. I had made whatever the second highest rating is (right below allies) but got scanned with illegal cargo unfortunately and my rating tanked instantly. There just aren’t enough missions that grant big enough rep gain. It takes forever but can be lost so easily. I mean I guess logically that makes sense but gameplay wise it is frustrating.

Looking forward to trying out some passenger stuff.

For the passenger stuff double check in the Passenger Lounge the mission parameters if they mind being scanned or not before accepting them. Even for ‘a tourist goes looks at a star’ passenger missions avoiding scans like the plague is quite annoying, as it tanks the payout you get plus faction rep etc.

Why were you pooping where you eat?

Also, time spent in a RES bounty hunting gives (or used to give prior 2.2) a good boost in rep. If you want to do this, a kill warrant scanner is your best friend for rep and money

I was juggling for the local faction. Got caught by police. My employer wasn’t happy I got caught.

I noticed the same problem that all the cargo missions even for sourcing rare cargo seem to have been nerfed too much.

That’s been my main enjoyable way to play with the odd CG thrown in, now I’ll have to find a new niche, maybe try some skimmer kill missions or mine or something because they totally took out the rewards of doing cargo runs which is sad because it wasn’t a problem. Hope they rebalance it back.

Update just saw the good example of the nerf on reddit LOL:

I was pleasantly surprised that my heavily customized XB1 controller layout survived the update with no issues, graphics look better and I like the new menu arrangements when docked, still need to figure out the new supersampling and VR quality options my quick test of them introduced major stuttering so I reverted.

So, a very good percentage of the time I spend sitting at my desk is spent configuring and re-configuring control schemes for the various controllers I have at my disposal, and in the case of E:D, it’s a combination of CH HOTAS peripherals, a Logitech keypad, and VoiceAttack software. I would be more than happy to share the corresponding profiles for anyone w/ a similar setup. Here’s a small example using VoiceAttack that I recorded a while back:

I love voice attack. I dislike having to redo all the controls for it lol. Thankfully it groups the commands when you have multiple phrases. Couldn’t imagine doing it without that. I was never much into programming all that random chatter in but it’s super neat what you can do.

6 units of Leopoldite for 56k? Pre-Guardians, that’d net you 6 figures.
