From looking around, seems like the reboot/repair should get it to 1% health and allow you to at least super cruise. It sounds like it typically takes a couple tries and malfunctions before it finally works.
Might try logging out and back in if it’s still repeatedly not engaging.
OK - I’ve made Rakapila my base and have souped-up my Diamondback Explorer to the eyeballs and stored it there. I’ve kitted it out for exploration, just needs a fuel scoop, and I plan to set off and do that in a month or two.
I bought myself a Cobra III and am busy doing jobs to get it upgraded - so far it’s going well and I only have 3 items left to upgrade - though they are expensive.
The Cobra is kitted out as a miner, with 32t cargo space. The refinery has 4 bins and I have decent grade limpets for prospecting and collecting.
Fortunately, Rakapila has a good resource planet in between Stone Enterprise and Walkers Settlement. So I’ll be here for a few weeks.
Anyone fancies coming along for some bounty hunting or such-like (mining with wingman cover?) is very welcome. There’s lots of potential action in the area.
If anyone fancies winging up for exploration in a month or two, give me a shout, too.
PS - Andrew, if you want me to bring anything out to you, it wouldn’t be a problem.
OK - tried mining and erm, it didn’t go well. Couldn’t get the mining laser to work at all. So I’ve ended up storing the Cobra and getting back into the Diamondback to do one of this week’s community goals.
Was tempted by the Keelback - anyone have any opinions on it?
Keelback’s only good thing is that its the only small ship that can carry fighters.
I think the question is, what do you want to do with the keelback? if its hauling, then the type 6 is better, if its fighting, then just about any other ship is better. If its smuggling, then i have had great success (and profits) in this area with the type 6 and the asp is very good at this too. The type 6 has good jump, can be quite fast when kitted.
But the keelback is a cool looking ship that can have a fighter bay.
This worked, I tried that night but it didn’t work, tried it again after work and I was able to cruise right back to my home station.
Thanks!
As for the Keelback, I have to agree other then being able to launch fighters, it doesn’t have much advantage over the Type 6. I love my Type 6, it’s what keeps the credits rolling in lol.
Did that - put it in fire group 3 and went so close to the asteroid I could have reached out and touched it. Was very close to colliding.
I used to use the old mining method, so I have some experience of using the laser - but I tried it twice on different asteroids in different parts of the belt, and it wouldn’t fire both times. Fired a prospector limpet first, then attempted to shoot the laser, after closing right in.
Thanks for trying to help, but it doesn’t matter now as I have sold the mining gear for now. I’ll have another go in future, but I’ll be doing the community goal thing for the next few days, until payout. Decided against the Keelback, too (been reading a lot of opinions on all the ships today). I’ll just keep saving for now.
I too love the type 6. Its been one of my mainstays for money.
As long as you don’t try and fight in the type 6, you will be fine. Its quite fast in straight line. Its fairly manoeuvrable and can have quite an excellent jump range. So good for trading, smuggling, exploring, mining too. I’d say the asp is best for smuggling for a better jump range, but the type 6 holds more.
I think my journey through ships that made the most money was Cobra → asp+type6 → python → conda.
OK - I’m at the current community goal system and I would recommend anyone who could do with a cash injection comes along and participates.
You need to either do combat with the baddies, or bring along either Lithium, semiconductors or energy something-or-others (details in the missions GUI). I’m fetching lithium - it’s not far to get some and I get a profit of 35,000cr per delivery and the minimum bonus is about 400,000cr, so well worth it. Hopefully soon move up the rewards percentage, though 4-odd million is the max you can get. Easy money, though, considering you can do outbound missions as well.
The bonuses have increased - a lot! Currently on 2 mil but hoping for 4 mil - only 3 days left.
Also, you’ll never believe it - I shelled out for a Type 6! Yup - me in a T6 again - and yes, as soon as I’ve finished with the community goal, I’ll be selling it again!
Fitted for 68t cargo - doing 2-leg runs, lithium to goal location and personal weapons back. Also bought an FSD to do 21ly jumps, with better power plant and distributor, too. the standard power plant takes too long to charge up the engines for my liking!
I’m actually getting blisters on my soles from all the pedal action! Never did like these pedals - the Saitek Cessna Pro. Very uncomfy to use.
Just arrived at Abroin for the combat goal, spent about 30 minutes bounty hunting and got 600k worth of bounties and now I’m sitting in the top 75% with a 4+ million reward. Not bad at all.
