Was busy with it again this afternoon and someone sent me a message. Unfortunately, it’s so long since I used the ED messaging, I couldn’t remember how to activate that part of the UI, so I couldn’t even read it, let alone answer.
So apologies for that - I did look on the options, but couldn’t find the relevant info.
I don’t know when you guys are normally on but if any one has any interest in doing some flying tonight I’ll most likely be around… tonight being east coast time lol
I’m just logging off. Put quite a few hours in today. Got my powerplant upgrade, but most places had rubbish, low-tier stuff. Had to go back to Aulin for the decent kit, which is where I’ve left it.
Scanned loads of systems, so hopefully worth a few cr later. Also came across some amazing stuff I’ve never seen before, as I got further out. I’ve almost got enough for two ADS, now, just one or two more jobs. Then all I need is a better distributor and I’ll be heading out to Colonia.
@Brix, I’d say you’re probably better staying in the bubble and getting up with the local crew. I’ll be heading back that way myself when I can- I miss my clipper anyway.

I’ll do that, then - though I will hang on to the Explorer - it gets so little hassle from anyone and runs at a very cool 17% in supercruise.
I’ll buy myself something else for other tasks - probs a Cobra III to start with - think I can get 60T into that with a few small mods.

Holy bejesus I just loaded my rift on Elite and WTF it is amazing.
I have to redo all my keybinds again I think because it seems to be looking for old joystick id’s or something. This happened to be once before too… computer forgot the usb devices or something and I had to remap everything. Talk about tedious. If anyone knows how to avoid this, that’d be great to know.
So I’ll be trying to fix my keys when I get the chance, and then flying around for sure. Actually being in the ship is SO awesome, and at least from sitting in the space dock, the resolution looks way more manageable than flight simming so far. Very excited. Only issue now is that my trade tools are not available to me lol.
Well, had a good 4.5 hour sesh tonite. Spent a few million on upgrades to the Explorer - was very tempted to splash out on an Asp Scout, but decided against it.
Got a very fancy ship, now - but that makes it harder to find even better upgrades. I also kitted it out with 36t cargo space, so I can do more hauling missions and will hopefully have enough space to use it for mining. The heat signature has risen, though, with the upgrades, to 23% in supercruise and I got lots of attempted interdictions, but escaped tham all.
Oh, I could do with advice on weapons - though I know everyone has their own opinion of what’s worth having. I bought a large homing missile rack, but still have the 1F pulse lasers.
Is it worth getting the Rail gun?
I also have two missions to destroy the power grid at a settlement and have no idea how to do that - so will be looking for tutes on YT.
Never played with rail guns myself - I normally run beams and pulse lasers, but I also don’t do much intentional combat…
As for the mission, you’re going to need an SRV. There should be a box or something you’ll either have to hack or shoot, if I remember right
I don’t mind the ground stuff but they should make it easier to navigate / find things. That radar is unreliable and confusing as anything.
I only want the weapons for self-defence, really. Yesterday I had just dropped out of supercruise at an outpost I was delivering to, when I came under attack straight away.
I didn’t have much to fight back with, so just jumped out again and luckily, when I retruned the aggressor was busy fighting someone else.
That was the point at which I decided to buy the guided missiles.
I watched a few videos this morning (good breakfast entertainment) about destroying the power grid missions and it seems you can do it with your ship, without even landing. I’ll have a go later.
Yup - just mosey along in your ship, target the generator, blast it away and do a runner!

So I need to figure out the controls for using the Galaxy map in VR but wow is it great. Very much what elite was meant to be all around. Can’t see myself playing it without vr. Still need to test combat in the rift but ya.
The asp is one of the few craft that can handle the draw of multiple railguns.
I have railguns on mine but not as many as this guy. They can be quite effective and pack a punch

Ya I mean I’ve read that, watched videos and tried it. I just find it kinda frustrating personally. It’s not like I’ll stop doing it, just not my favourite thing.
Welp I’m in a bind… I was doing a little light bounty hunting and got in to a scuffle with a Fed Dropship, I survived but the dang thing wiped out my FSD. Repair and reboot isn’t fixing it and now I’m 341 Ls from the closest repair…

Repair limpets aren’t a thing yet are they? Other then self destruct, any ideas?
