If you’re into Cold War 80s era stuff this is a great mod theater for Falcon BMS - Coastal Front

F-16s with heathers only !? nice !

btw is it just me or BMS and DCS are somehow spiritually interconnected …

BMS F-15C … DCS F-15C
DCS Cold War Germany … BMS Cold War 80s

Nicely done damson. That was well edited, allowing the viewer to follow the mission without being subjected to the tedious parts. The terrain looks better than I remembered, probably helped by the weather configuration. Can a player fly the F-15C in that campaign?

IIRC BMS has had these in development for a long time - people working on passion projects in their evenings take longer to get these things done.

I’d argue DCS is pretty accurately responding to market demand now, we’ve got the middle-east very well covered and now we’re getting 1980s Europe. I do think the Clickable F-15C is almost certainly a response to the BMS F-15C, but I for one like that the two sims are competing.

The only sad thing is that some bits of DCS got started then have been ignored subsequently: Korea, for example, and also properly fleshing out the European WWII theater with important platforms like a Bf-109G (which could also be used on Caucasus to face the I-16!), a Razorback P-47 with the earlier prop, the Typhoon (the Hawker one ), and any medium bomber other than the Mosquito (particularly the Ju-88). Edit: and the Douglas Havoc/A-20! How could I forget it!

Yes you can - it’s supposed to be tha pre MSIP F-15A, so there is no countermesures on it, but as opposed to the Viper you can carry Sparrows and have IFF interrogator mounted so BVR is possible.

The only downside is that it probably uses (didn’t flown it yet in this campaign) the F-15C cockpit - though the avionics should be properly downgraded - e.g. no datalink as with the Viper in this theater.

The Eagle in BMS is nicely modelled - it has completely separate avionics suite from the Viper (other flyable aircraft in BMS are heavily based on the F-16 avionics). This was its state few updates back when I recorded ramp start for it:

The armament panel on the left (that was replaced by the MFD with the datalink) looks very F-4-esque :sunglasses:

fully agree on that , plus I would add Tempest and I would rather see B25 / A26 instead of A20

could you , or anyone else , try and report back ? it would be pretty cool if it has proper F15A cockpit . its getting old but I repeat, we need the proper As

Yeah, it’s F-15C, though with limited functionality - no AMRAAMs, 9Xs, HMCS, datalink or even chaff and flares.

Look at it this way, your squadron is testing the MPCD but since things got hot and you’re flying to the front they pulled the really interesting black boxes

Gotta love AAR in BMS. It even models faulty connection between probe and drogue - see how the AI pilot struggles to connect properly (the visible fuel spray means the connection is bad and the probe needs to be reinserted into the backet).

I think I may have to get into BMS again just for the EF.

The hose/drogue dynamics are awesome in BMS. DCS took years to catch up, and it still doesn’t have that satisfying sine wave down the hose that BMS has. I haven’t touched my PC but once this year. But this discussion is really wetting my appetite to complete a campaign fully in the F-15.

Agree. Shame the HUD is so off. :weary:

Typhoon in BMS still uses F-16 avionics doesn’t it?

It’d be neat if it got its own avionics model like the F-15 did…

@komemiute , how close was the orig EF2000 avionics wise ? :slight_smile:

I haven’t seen a Hornet refuel in BMS, but I love the fuel vapor effect when the boom discos on the Viper and Eagle.

To the F16?

You mean the HUD? The MHDDs(which are the EF version of the MFDs) ?

The pages? The formats?

In general, it’s very different. Beside showing the same informations in the HUD a lot of concepts are radically different
