Sorry, I’m in the car driving. Flew to Chicago and back today and haven’t been available. Ferrying a kid to soccer practice here in a bit.. but just wanted to say I like the naval Alpha strike type scenario. With time zones it could be tough to coordinate unless it was a weekend thing. I wonder what kind of ECM jamming would be effective… I’m guessing the SU 25T wouldn’t necessarily be useful jamming against red ships.

Alright, naval gazing it is. We need a time. A moment where both us east coast and eurotrash are awake enough to press the button.
How about a sunday? Next week here in .nl its a week off for schools and things. So I (we) may be flexible.
Hornets have the TALD, and I believe other jets like the viper do too. They are unpowered so best launched high and fast. Tomcats are good for that too, launch a brace of ducks then provide top cover.

Nothing towed, but there is the ADM-141 TALD (Tactical Air Launched Decoy) thing? I don’t think I’ve ever used it. Does the AI go for it, but we could try? (edit: reading about it it seems like good for waking up SAMs rather than red air)
The distances are pretty small from the northern airfield, so low and fast to get within 20km range is really do-able I think. Given the number of ships (maybe 5 or so, not sure) how many get through is going to be the issue. A swarm could work..

Doesnt have to kill everything in one whack. We could go back, rearm and sink another boat.
The AI does go for TALD. So if we time em right, it should help the missiles not miss.

I think the red fleet is just cruisers and destroyers, although the mission briefing did list CVN G Washington as a red carrier I’ve never seen it - it just doesn’t appear on the map I don’t think. It looks like they cycle waypoints in the red box. Airfields are so close that I think mainly SU27’s from Iran and probably a fair number of them.

Speaking of waypoints..I ran into a problem in the JF-17 in that the number of preset waypoints in this mission exceeds the capability of the jet. I wonder if there is an (easy) way to purge our rear areas of those waypoints and assign the area ahead with new ones… 
I’m sure it is possible..but..
Oh..and I just realized I did not download the new PG .miz file from Leka when I edited the one this morning..so I’ll do that tonight or tomorrow..some bug fixes or additional features that should not break the save game…

Not to be too negative, but I haven’t really seen jamming being effective supporting other assets (ie the anti-ship missiles). It seems to be mostly an ordeal for self preservation right now. the TALDs work great. we can also be productive by shooting ARMs into the boats, giving them something else (and much higher) to shoot at.
In the top left of the spawn screen is a route tool. You can use this to purge the default route and make a custom one of your own. And if you forget, you can make map markers with specific names (FPA1, FPA2, FPA3 etc). If you then update the route from DTC, the sim will pretend that that is the route that was actually given on the DTC. (thats specific to the JF-17)

The RB 4’s worked great on a local practice with a nice but gullible ship. I have a sinking feeling (heh) I did something really stupid before like equipped RB05’s (the guided AG kinda thingy?) thinking they were RB-15’s. That would explain why they released when I turned the lottery wheel all the way around. So many numbers, perhaps I am making it into the 21%.

In addition to the harpoon and RB’s, there are several powered/glide bombs on the Hornet and Phantom. Might be an option to get in closer while the air defense assets are dealing with the missiles. For that matter some standoff lasing, combined with high altitude loft bombing some LGB’s can probably do some damage.

Since I was alone.. decided to try to soften up the islands. Big mistake I made? I loaded up the spare undies pod instead of the ECM pod.
Nobody is awake down there. I am sure they are waiting for me to get too close to something.
Something bites and I shoot. it was an SA-15…
… on a boat making it actually a SA-N-9.. This ship has too much defenses and takes every single one of my magnums down.
Those Ka-50’s really love patrolling the islands. They’re hard to pick up on radar so I am going after them visually (just left of the TVV)

Same riddle, even had to mad dog this one as it was clear as day as it was but my radar couldn’t spot him.
The weather is even more beautiful than last time.
Stealing a trick I saw Beach do. Glidebombs and ARMs. Also got rid of the underwear pod.
Again the island goes completely silent.. I watch my glidebombs go in and ready to shoot anything that is coming for me or for them. But what was actually coming for me was some migs. I hastily shot them HARMs into some target of opertunities (killed a few dog ears and ZU’s as collateral) shot down the migs, completed the CAP mission, then back to base.

Tried some Harpoon’s out with the Hornet, to the ships to the West, just to get a sense of how capable this stuff is. The DD with the TOR on the back had enough CIWS to shoot down 4 of my close group Harpoons. The good news is that they can be flung pretty much from the taking off base on the West coast and the SEA radar is super easy to use and find them with.
It would either take a few coordinated shots between players or maybe some sort of hi-lo spread to confuse its CIWS. The 4th missile almost makes it each time, so look possible.
I’ll try the Viggen next just to see if it fairs any better with RB-4’s and their jiggling they do.
EDIT: Tried the viggen and I sunk a ship, but it was just a dry cargo one - it’s hard to pick an exact target with the RB-4’s so if the bad guys have anything around them it’s difficult to single them out. It’s a busy sea unfortunately.

Decided to work on Abu Musa again tonight. Took the Mudhen up and managed to actually use the radar at TPOD reasonably well. Got in a BVR fight with a pair of MiG-21’s and it didn’t end well as I was loaded for bear, and dogfighting without labels is definitely not my usual. Got one Fishbed at least. Repeat except this time with a pair of MiG-25’s, and the same result.
I decided to go back to what’s been working and fire up the Apache. It’s a ~22 minute flight out, so it focuses the mind on being smart and doing it right, so it’s not a waste of time. After a solid 16 hellfire run, it was time to get out of dodge, but the remaining heavy AA wasn’t letting me go quietly.
The flak followed me for far longer than I felt was reasonable. Eventually as I got close to the coast the master caution kicked on, and low and behold I was running low on fuel.
I don’t think I’ve ever flown a sortie long enough to run down the gas, it’s always a weapons issue. Still had plenty of gas to make it back, and set down for the princely reward of 130 credits.
Reloaded, and back we go to finish it off, and hopefully claim it for BlueFor!

I think I took out most things on the island, including the heavy AAA which did not appreciate being shot at and took me down twice. Had to call it a night, before I could go back and try to finish it. Who try its next, there’s a Scorpion in the middle of the island, only thing I know is left.

I finished a bit of the side activities I had so I am free to dedicate myself to DCS again! 
Nothing would make me prouder to fly as your wingman on the Viggen and salve fire Anti-Ship missiles.

Great then maybe we should plan a massive strike! I’ll be practicing my viggening all afternoon. When would we wanna do this? (you can pick all times you would be available.. I picked a wide range so maybe we can mix among the continents).
