Meanwhile I drop troops a ridgeline behind the objective, the troops march to command. Charlie will fall under this attack. I’m enjoying the air assaults a little too much I think.
Giving the phantom pilot a wink as I RTB to pick up repair kits to get that hawk up and running again, as well as getting ammunition for him. The former lake Amik lakebed is always heavily contested in air conflict. Having some of our SAMs can help us gain the upperhand and counter the SA-2 shooting over the ridge at our air power.
They do not delay in engaging MiGs encroaching upon Hatay.

Did some work last night running cargo, and pickup up a few downed pilots. Took a Hun down to Delta and knocked down the SA-2, and took a pair of convoy’s headed up to Minakh from Aleppo’s. I used the Harrier for the latter as hotspot tracker let me find the dang things. Took up a M2000 and knocked down some Su-24’s headed to Cyprus, but got knocked down by a R-60 after getting 2 of them. Decided to call it a night. There is another convoy headed towards Minakh from Aleppo, and I think Aleppo has a SA-2 as well.
I tried to join via IP address, but no server.
Did you perhaps already update DCS Smokin?
EDIT: Double checked and yeah the server is not on the latest version yet. I tend to wait with updates until I see Beach post a message about that.

Yep I did update. It’s been a minute since I played DCS so updating was not optional.
Ah gotya, there’s various ways to downgrade a version but it might not work if it has been so long. @BeachAV8R will surely update the server soon enough!
That explains why I couldn’t get in yesterday either… admittedly I didn’t have much time and was really just going to check how playable it was because of the ping I get.
I didn’t have much choice with updating either. When it downloaded the Syria map it did the rest as well.
Tried to work Aleppo on my own, did get some way in, build a farp nearby. But unfortunately the enemy was already sending Mi-8’s with resupply. It really is a two man job if you are flying the Hind!

Server wasn’t showing on the old version or the new version this evening. We really need to have an intervention with @BeachAV8R about how “work” is effecting his sim’ing. He’s got to get his priorities straight.

Yeah..I broke down in Chicago the other day and while I was there I was working on my CFII renewal online..so didn’t catch the messages. I was surprised we got such a quick hot fix after the patch last week.

I got combined arms in the sale, and I wanted to play a bit with it, how does vehicle control work on the server? Do you need to place the vehicles yourself before you get to control them? Tried to move the bradley’s @Sryan deployed and drove at incirlik but it was not allowed.
Hey @TheAlmightySnark no you don’t have to worry about who has the ownership. What you need to do is pick one of the combined arms slots on the server. Not in the dynamic slots but in the standard slots there’s some slots that have a name something like Ground Commander. When you take that slot you can drive our bradleys.
OT: Did you spot something on the beach last few nights?

@TheAlmightySnark is bringing in troops to contact as we are about to start the battle for Aleppo proper
I take control of a Bradley as the infantry rushes into urbanized areas.
I take out a few combatants as @smokinhole and @TheAlmightySnark provide CAS. Their most important task was to down a Mi-8 that was about to resupply the defenders. I gun down the last defenders with the good old 7.62 NATO and free the base.
Some time later, I end up in an apache near the enemy substation. After landing a hit on the local Tunguska, which had already done a slight weight trim on @jenrick’s night attack Harrier, I start lasing and calling out targets for him and his massive GBU-16.

After his last bomb he had just enough fuel and gun rounds to clear out the soft targets defending the station, and we ended up clearing it out. Later, we went back to Allepo to help defend it against a source of rocket artillery and hostile AAA that was placed on the approaches in a very cheeky attempt.
