Games we are playing

I need to play clear sky after stalker 2 is finished.

I played call of Pripyat for a couple of hours but uninstalled. The enhanced graphics were very minor and I just couldn’t get over the clunky animations and sound effects. It’s back to Stalker 2 for me!

Well they are very much a product of their time.
The main selling point for me is the nostalgia factor (and that I got them for free- Thank you Steam Family library!)

Oh I know they are a product of their time. It’s just that the “enhanced” graphics were not enough for me to get nostalgic enough to want to replay the games.

Having said that, if the old games were ever totally redone with the unreal 5 engine which stalker 2 uses then I’d gladly pay full price for that.

Speaking of Nostalgia and enhanced graphics.,…

Strange, this reminds me very much of a mission I did in one of the earlier Call of Duty games 10 billion years ago…

this one looks promising

A possible challenger to GHPC …

Some graphical elements are much better than GHPC, but overall there’s something a bit floaty about this. We will see.

I noticed the building destruction looked pretty good … as long as its not war thunderish

I’ll reserve my judgement until I can see some gameplay footage, but they obviously see a market for another tank sim… so that is a good thing.

I can respect that position. In fact, it’s the only sensible one when dealing with games.

But, I am an idiot and I’ve already gotten 110% hyped. Let’s GOOOOOO.

I think I’ve been indoctrinated! My whole gaming life, tanks have only appeared as things to be obliterated by the bombs, guns or missiles of whatever aircraft I happen to be flying.

Its never even occurred to me to actually be the person in one of those moving targets…

I would genuinely surrender my PPL entitlement for life to drive a challenger 2 or a leopard 2a7 around a field

Interesting. Even in the most modern tank interiors I’ve gotten a glimpse of via various videos, etc. The things seem like death-traps.

Claustrophobic ones!

Watching the Ukrainians popping them like turtles is not confidence building, either!

I think like submariners, it takes a special personality type to be comfortable in those.

And it probably says something about me that my real-life trepidation about the things extends to video games…

They are surprisingly not as claustrophobic as you would think… well I never thought so and I honestly can’t remember anyone ‘assigned’ to tanks arriving at the School of Armour and freaking out about it.

We’re also not seeing all the times a tank turns up and allows a group of infantry to disengage and not die, or otherwise turns the tide in a battle. That doesn’t make a good 15 second tiktok clip.

Tanks aren’t invulnerable, and if I had a choice I’d rather fight in the sky than on the ground or in the water (actually I’d rather not fight at all ). But I’d rather fight from a tank than from a hole in the ground…
