Are we talking CPU fans going bananas or GPU fans?
Has anyone here played Elden Ring: Nightreign? I gave it a shot but I hated being rushed from objective to objective. I don’t like speed runs of any kind.
I love that game so much. Subnautica was thought up by a gamedev who, shocked by yet another school shooting, wanted to experiment with other verbs than kill, shoot, destroy in games. So he made one where discover, scan and build are the primary verbs of the game.
And be absolutely terrified when a massive monster slides out of the dark abyss🤣
That bloody reaper
Played the remastered Heretic + Hexen on Co-op last night with the Wife. It was great fun! We did the first couple of levels of Heretic and its been at least 20 years since i played that, so couldn’t remember a thing so we explored together. Was a giggle! The remaster looks wonderful and the music is amazing
You have a wife who games?? You sir have hit the jackpot.
She’s got something like 700 hours in skyrim and 400 odd in Cyberpunk. She’s adept.
So…I’m a rather large fan of Doom, ID software, Quake, the WHOLE lot.
I’ve had a feeling about “the dark ages” I kinda thought that I’m really not gonna like this, so i haven’t bothered up to now.
I’m 4 missions in, on Hurt me plenty difficulty and it’s as i feared. Its…fine. I don’t mind it, it’s better than sitting watching telly. But its just…eh
I absolutely loathe the look of the slayer as well. In Eternal, he looked awesome. In 2016 he looked EPIC. In tda he looks stupid. That cape, is a fashion choice. The slayer…wouldn’t make a fashion statement.
Maybe it will get better, but I’m not enjoying the story, its awful, but so was Eternal.
I had a feeling about this one. I’m sad.
Basically, with ID
1, Doom
2, quake
3, doom 2
4, quake 2
5 doom 3
6, quake 4
7 rage (shut up, it was incredible)
8 doom 2016
9 eternal
10 master levels
Commander Keen
Wolfenstein 3D
I just found out Keen Dreams was ported to Nintendo Switch in 2019.
Not in my top ten that one and the level design in Wolf is horrible
Keen4 and Keen5 are peak for me.
Of those, the only ones I have played are Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, Quake, Quake 2 and Quake 3.
My favourite ID game though (even though it is technically a mod) - QuakeWorld Team Fortress. I lost count of how many hours I spent playing that.
Thanks - though I doubt I’m as much of a fan as you (never played Rage), I had the same worry and your report confirms what I feared.
It has the same problem as Eternal. It just doesn’t feel like a Doom game. Especially with all the parrying and the story being so weird. But more so than eternal if that makes sense. It’s still fun enough, but not for the same reasons as Doom
I’ve been done with the Doom series for a long time now. I’m 52 years old so I’m well out of their demographic anyway!
I dunno, 2016 felt tight, focused and very very good. Even the story was to the point and didnt detract much from the whole experience.
Eternal was phenomenal as a game, but the whole glory kill thing wore a bit thin on me towards the end. Plus the story was absolutely nonsensical. I understood they to move it along, but in my opinion, it wasn’t the right direction. Although there were some really cool bits.
This one, eh…dragons and mech suits and crushed skull firing cannons. It doesn’t do it for me. Its like they said, think of things that would make an 8 year old scream “AWESOME” its a bit cringy to be honest. The dragon especially. I admit to quite enjoying the mech part, even if it was a bit on rails
