Fran Bow?
I don’t play many, but thankfully the last one I did finally is on Steam
pretty good stuff imo
Haven’t played Fran Bow myself, but the character art kind of stuck in my brain.
Well he did do a free one, maybe it was this.
Turns out I actually have Fran Bow, guess I need to find some time to play it ![]()
Been playing a lot of GunGriffon and Blue Destiny on my recently acquired Saturn. Also Brigador.
Hi,
So in a desperate attempt to stop being the boring boyfriend I bought Space Pirate Trainer. I thought if Myra don’t like it, ill have a little fun w it. She didn’t like the Odyssey plus in DCS. But the Oculus CV1 in Pirate Trainer was a hit for both of us. We loved it.
I then showed her Beat Saber. She really was enthused enough for me to buy it. We set it to download and went off to sleep. In the morning she was texting about how fun it was and how she couldn’t stop. Against my will she made me try it. I really had a good time!!!
So now when I go fly Myra has a game to play. On weekends we will play together. We had so many laughs. She doesn’t know im getting her used to VR so we can fly together ![]()
Sneaky! ![]()
Really enjoying Insurgency Sandstorm these days when I feel like doing some shooting. I say these days because it got off to a rocky start since release around the beginning of last year. I was attempting to play in 4K but graphics performance definitely wasn’t optimized.
Fast forward to July 2020 and the 4K performance is great as well as a lot more content including the recently released Operation Nightfall update …
I’ve been playing Carrion recently, it’s advertised as a reverse-horror game but actually it’s puzzle solving platformer with humans as medkits. It’s pretty fun game. You can get it on Steam or on GamePass (PC/Xbox).
My problem with Insurgency was the AI was impossible. It was like fighting robots in human bodies.
Did the newer title improve that any?
The original insurgency AI was super easy.
The sandstorm AI is HARD.
I found the original title impossible to win with 2 players and there was no slider to adjust it. Quit after about 5 hours.
I am glad I gave up on the series then.
I don’t blame you for giving up. Sandstorm is not for the faint of heart. ![]()
There is a difficulty setting, it just has to be voted on by those in server.
I was the server. I’m also not talking about Sandstorm, I mean the original one.
It seemed like the game did not do any balancing for 2 players instead of 4 or 5 or whatever the max was, it just gave you the same number of enemies regardless. I find that unacceptable.
So am I. All of the AI behavior changes are controlled via vote given to the players on the server. But, yeah, it doesn’t balance based on population though. You can vote on reaction times and accuracy, but that’s really it.
So the original Insurgency was actually a Source mod for Half Life 2 called Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat (circa 2007) …
then New World Interactive published it as a standalone and called it Insurgency (circa 2014) …
NWI actually used “Insurgency2” as the install folder name so I guess you can call it Insurgency 2.
I’m not sure if the original mod version had a co-op mode. You probably found the Insurgency2 version was unacceptable but it was actually quite scalable in terms of AI numbers, and the number of AI’s per human player. If you scaled it back you could easily wipe out a map playing solo even. The AI were so easy that me and some guys I used to play with would compete to see who could get to 100 kills the fastest. ![]()
Sandstorm AI, on the other hand, are way more crafty in terms of using cover, flanking maneuvers, grenades, smoke etc etc. Lots of fun …
In case anyone was feeling nostalgic… download an emulator, this is pretty meh imo
It’s on Xbox PC gamepass btw if you don’t want to drop $20 to find out for yourself
A few days ago I decided to quit multiplayer air-to-air combat. It has taken me 30 years to realize that I have never been good at it and age is only making me worse. I took my pity party to a WhatsApp hangout where my friends of 10 years+ meet to talk about how much we love online air combat. So it was a little weird. The closest of these friends suggested I take a break* and give Hollow Knight a try.
This game’s been mentioned here before. It’s such a hard and lovely game with a very different mood than anything I’ve played before. Mechanically and creatively I’d rate it up there with Super Meat Boy. It has taken me 30 tries to take out the worst of the bosses. Somehow it’s not really all that frustrating. The setbacks don’t seem arbitrary. There is clearly a doable pattern even early with a given tough challenge. And it is utterly satisfying to get it right.
*(I’ve taken breaks before. I really am done. What a relief put all the disappointment, frustration and THOUSANDS of hours of wasted time, behind me.)
Ha…! I preemptively decided that A2A combat wasn’t for me. I’m a mud-mover…and not a very good one at that either, but I feel I have at least a shot at it. And taking that a notch further…I definitely prefer helicopters because it feels more cat-and-mousy with a bit slower pace of operations and a bit more deliberation and stealth.
I honestly watch a video from someone like Ralfidude and am amazed at what they can accomplish, their SA, and their proficiency with the aircraft systems. I realize that this didn’t come naturally (well, part of it did), but was the result of focused practice and many, many hours doing it. I’m definitely more the jack of all trades type and rarely settle into doing anything well…
I recently played through Firewatch and thoroughly enjoyed the slow pacing, very well told story, very well done voice acting, and really unique looking environments. It is a walking exploration game though…not much difficult to do but sit back and enjoy the story…
