Ah yes! That I did see on the manual I’m struggling to hit a barn wall reliably, let alone an aircraft, though…
Darn, I really wanted to sneak that fat RB-04 on some unsuspecting A-10 online, hahaha

Sorry for the late reply.
The CK37 sets up a 4100m radius turn and gives a turn command depending on speed.
The SI (HUD) will look like this, depending on your position to this radius.
The turn command is limited to 45° bank. If you need more bank to maintain the turn, you’re too fast. 550km/h is the desired speed.
Yes. The AI version doesn’t seem to have the ”saddle”.
The Rb04 had a lavette that secured the missile and subjected a mechanical downwards ejecting force, via a torsion spring. Basically the forward part of the lavette was torqued to a certain moment, and when the missile was launched, it was pushed down, nose first.
This is why we auto-fart in the viggen!!
Just flew a bit on Mbot’s Normandy map. The map is perfect for the Viggen with a proper challenge! Tried to high-drag bomb the bridge filled with baddies. Unfortunately I put my weapon mode into ATTACK instead of sjo-plan so yeah…
Also I was afterburning towards the target in the transonic region. I don’t think that helps the bombing computer.
So maybe I’m daft but I mapped the zoom functions and was trying to use them (they are disorienting in VR, to say the least) but I still can not find an indicator … indicating … what the setting is. I see, like +5 and -5 but I can’t tell what the rotary is set to?
Am I missing something? Can this be set in the Mission Editor and forgotten about?
I’ve been meaning to ask the same thing. I’m not in VR but still can’t see a marker on the magnetic declination setting knob.
Sorry the only time I used it was in the training mission
The Almight Snark and myself had a pleasant time crashing viggens this afternoon
A couple of screenies
There was a significant amount of crashing… Alas my computer really doesn’t like the PG in multiplayer!
Normandy was lovely though, @MBot’s mission was enjoyed with a successful hit on the bridge!
Hmmmm… The ETAs are all messed up. Is this a known thing?
Has anyone else noticed that the map is upside down?
So I tried the landing tutorial and I landed long…used the entire runway…the skid marks attest to how close I was. Fortunately the Viggen has a reverse gear for backing up.
Coming home to find that one base was attacked (and the runway cratered) while I was off sinking ships.
What’s the problem, I see plenty of roads!
A really interesting read on the RB-04E:
I think I’m going to try out a few things with the missiles - they seem quite fun.
What’s interesting is, the RB-4E launch cue line indicates 40 seconds to target…at 10m altitude and 15C, M1 is about 340m/s, so if the missile is going at M0.9 (I’ll need to test the speed in-game), that 40s launch cue is at 12km to ATP.
The solid fuel rocket burn time is noted to be 60-75 seconds. At the above assumptions (M0.9 / 306 m/s) a 75-second burn time gives a range of 22.95km before flameout. The manual states a max range of 32km - I guess that difference is due to the remaining kinetic energy?
Anyway - i’ll need to test and confirm the numbers, but it seems that you might be able to ‘game’ that range cue a bit to increase the survival chance.
All stated range cue’s for the Viggen are about optimal conditions to guarantee a proper deployment for the weapon. Under optimal conditions you can launch a BK90 at 15km in DCS World currently. The manual procedure talks about half that range!
The missile cruises at an altitude of 10 meters above sea level, which it maintains by the use of a radar altimeter.
From the quoted page, I wonder if this is correct in DCS, the missile appears to maintain barometric altitude, ergo if you release it over a slightly sloping land it will happily flow straight into it!
I also attempted to sink a oil rig with this missile, alas it aptly ignored the existence of that sort of structure.
A while back, I took a day and set up a simple mission to test how to best damage/destroy an oil platform…sort of my own little Operation Praying Mantis.
I tried all kinds of aircraft and missiles. For the Viggen I found the RB 05A was quite effective. The best was the MiG-21 KH-66 GHROM
Those are 2 similar weapons! I was considering a second sortie with BK90 MJ2.
Wait…what? Is there one? I want one? Wheres mine? Lol
Never mind… I got one too! Cool!!
Whoo me too! Badge buddies!
Me too, tho I hardly earned it with the viggen. Did learn to hip it up somewhat with you guys.
You DEFINITELY earned it in the Yak
It is, admittedly, arbitrarily given at this point. I wanted to do something to reward people for taking part. I am going to try to tie it to some forum rules, if I can get a chance to do that
Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.
