No idea what the release time is, but I presume it would need to be activated first like any other module. Have you tried that?
It seems to me that people are making a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to switching to the Beta. Using Skatezilla’s app makes the whole process EXTREMELY quick and simple.
A lot of newer users assumed the pre-order was for a “final” product being released today, and not early access/beta
I think that that is indeed the problem, although widely known by longtime users I can imagine the confusion because the store page wasn’t very clear at all. Only a few *marks on items that would be released later on.
An FYI from RagnarDa on the DCS Forums regarding current known issues with the Viggen:
Before you enter the virtual cockpit of your brand new mud-mover there are a number of things we just want to let you know we unfortunately weren’t able to fix in time for the initial release.
- There is currently an issue with twist stick rudder controls. Moving the rudder-control (twisting the stick) seems to be working in a relative way instead of a absolute so when you twist it one way you have to twist it the other way to cancel out your command. This issue does not affect all twist joysticks-- and we’re trying very hard to find the underlying cause. This is a priority fix for us.
As a temporary workaround if your stick is affected, you can use keyboard commands for the rudder.
- The Bk90 cluster bomb doesn’t work when in multiplayer unless you are the host. It works in single player though.
We have a workaround already but it didn’t make it into the release. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we can implement this weapon properly.
- When placing Bx-waypoints for Rb15 (Bx6-Bx9) in the Mission Editor it will sometimes not load unless you make a fix on the Bx8 waypoint (select it then T1-TV).
The allowed turning is also a little more restricted (I think) than what it says in the manual: 45 degrees to Bx7 and a total of 55 degrees instead of 180 degrees.
- Version 1.5.6OB of DCS has a significant cockpit shadow issue, which will make the cockpit look significantly worse than in 1.5.5. This is not Viggen specific, however.
- The EP-13 Collimated sight does not collimate properly in VR.
- There are Rb04 and Rb15 versions for AI planes but they where only now discovered to not work and might crash your game. The versions for human players doesn’t work properly for AI.
- Probably some minor or major bugs…
We hope you will still enjoy our module!
It has been a long road and it is surreal to finally being able to release it to the world!
ITS HERE!!!
I am tingling with excitement
How to update 1.5.5. if you started it within the last 24 hours.
EDIT: 2294.5MB
enjoy your new toy! i’ll just be here waiting for those propellers
Snark…I don’t have an I: drive…
I AM JUST KIDDING! YOU CAN IGNORE THAT AND GO BACK TO VIGGENING!
I AM VIGGENING
Well no… Just redid my joystick fix, flipped the pitch axis that I FUBARED, and did a little material on material changes to reduce friction with liberal amounts of greeeaaaaseeeeeeeee.
Although seriously - Who uses I for a drive letter? Do you use V and L as well?
Are you Viggen Kidding Me?,
Bahahahahahahaha
Well, it is absolutely beautiful in VR. Unfortunately the rudder problem is causing me all kinds of grief. It makes for some interesting landings!
The day of the Viggen is upon us!
Yeah, I had a little sneak peek at it, but today I can use my very own Viggen module!
Awesome! I still can’t believe I actually have a AJS 37 Viggen, simulated to the smallest nut, bolt and kulpenad detalj (Swe) on my sim PC…!
Does everybody struggle with yaw oscillations during high speed ground operations? I do, and if I turn off SPAK, it’s much more stable. SPAK is a control damping autopilot mode and it seems like it’s fighting the yaw control input…?
She’s a handful on the ground right now, that is for sure. I put in a large deadzone for the rudder axis and that makes the aircraft at least mostly controllable. Landings are still a little hairy though. Reverse Thrust rather than touching the wheelbrakes is the order of the day.
I managed to get M2.4 out of it (clean and at altitude).
Yeah. Turn off SPAK and see how it fares.
The real Viggen could be unstable in yaw when reversing. One prototype and the first serial production aircraft was lost because of this. Back stick, to unload the nosewheel helps.
Yes, I have these issues. I believe a nosewheel steering bug was identified during the development. Maybe they haven’t squashed I completely.
Don’t forget to check the Viggen Bugs and Problems thread over at ED - your bug may already be reported. If not, be sure to post it so the developers know about it!
