50 knots sound a bit excessive.
But then…
35 knots or so for the carrier, 10 knots headwind, and then minimum fuel, that should work.

Except that I’m not sure that a Forrestal could reach 35 knots, and even if one could, she’d have to virtually empty of stores, fuel, weapons, aircraft, and extra crew, and it’s likely the boilers would be at the very top of their operating temperature band. And then it would be questionable that the cat accumulators could be filled in a timely manner. If at all.
That video is absolutely hilarious…especially the bit with the RIO plugging in all the waypoints. LOL!
Good point. You are the expert of course, I only heard that newer carriers make almost 40 knots so I just guessed that the older ones might have made 35 maybe.
Yeah, +1 “Time to go driving miss Daisy”
Here’s something I wrote on that a while back.
Cool story!
As a kid I had a book or something about ships and it listed the Nimitz class at 37 knots, which is very impressive (and probably still less than what it can really do).
I have been on express ferries between Denmark and Norway which cruised at approximately that speed and thought: “wow. A big ship at that speed must make a HUGE wave”.
love the piano version of highway to the danger zone in that teaser
I love hearing stuff like that. Awesome story thanks!
Another teaser. This time from MagzTV. We must be getting close to the Tubers being able to release their content.
I’m waiting for the Grim Reapers videos. Those guys do some funny stuff.
Cap and crew are always good for a laugh. I forsee them dying in mass while ingressing to a target as their Opfor launches waves of Aim-54s once the Tomcat releases.
I know a certain someone who is cringing at this thought.
as in the song…
TWIAO! TWIAAAA O!
F-14 comes and I want it at home.
Come Mr. Heatblur man, bring me a Tomcat
F-14 comes and I want it at home.

Cool read Navy.
Wheels
I got the top gun score in uncompressed audio files, so
My bet is mid-February.
Wikipedia says the Pegasus maxed out at 48 knots, so figure at least that fast.
Nimitz and her sisters are beasts!
Idk, they seemed to be flirting with a pre Xmas release for a while. I’m thinking mid Jan.
Soooo, what you’re saying is… TWO WEEKS
