Heatblur F-14 and Forrestal Update

We need biger maps

The LANTIRN is still under development, so things may be unfinished or don’t work at all.

The LANTIRN can communicate with some aircraft systems, but it’s mostly a one-way communication - it can read, but it’s unable to write. This means that no info from the LANTIRN is presented on the HUD or any other instrument. So for the weapons deployment, the crew has to rely only on the information displayed on the screen, or combine it with the standard bomb modes.

The simplest guide to using the LANTIRN in a bomb run:

  • LASER ARM
  • find your target and initiate some tracking (for example AREA)
  • designate (LANTIRN stick 2nd stage trigger)
  • follow the horizontal tape to fly towards the target
  • pickle when TREL is 0 and the caret on the vertical tape reaches the mark
  • lase: LANTIRN stick 1st stage trigger (momentary) or latched (keeps the laser on for 30sec)
  • keep the dot (sensor eye direction) within limits (the line squiggly line everyone keeps asking about)

Yeah I would guess that, too. At this pre-release point a lot may still be in flux.

There should be some text in the mirror “objects on plane may be less useful than they appear”.

A quote right out of the F-14 NATOPS!

Just like that quote out of the maintenance manual:

“Corrective action: depower system, repower system.”

If TFR remains inoperable after steps 2 through 21, the B/N shall apply percussive maintenance to the forward bulkhead using the left foot.

@komemiute I bet you know what plane the above is about

As do I. I remember getting A-6F stickers from my uncle when I was a kid.

17 posts were split to a new topic: Crash Laobi Teases an Upcoming Module

There is a Fully Assembled F-14 on the set of Top Gun Maverick,

no shots of the BuNo, but it looks like a re painted museum peice.

hey @wheelsup_cavu, know anything about this?

@Navynuke99 Only thing I know about the new Top Gun movies is that Tom’s P-51 keeps coming back to PoF for more maintenance. They just swapped engines a week ago.

Appears Ralfidude is streaming some F-14 content on Twitch for anyone interested.

The VOD. I’ve watched him demonstrate at least five or six methods to completely screw up his BFM engagement and negate the advantages the aircraft offers. So that’s not frustrating at all.

“The Landing is so Shallow!” he says repeatedly as he’s so far below glide path as to be completely off the meatball.

I guarantee you that I can screw them up in at least seven methods or more.

Highlights from Ralfi’s stream.

Well, that settles it. After watching the highlights and seeing that Heatblur has modeled the ability to “Dump and burn”, along with their modeling of a swing wing flight model and TF-30 enigines. The F-111 is all but comfirmed.
