Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Pre-order

Sure, its a controller. Do you want to is another question altogether.

Well, if you are flying the C130 it would be great!

Yeah it has 6 sliders on the throttle quadrant area. Map them how you like. Seems the C-130 mod would be the only DCS aircraft worth doing so. Everything else is 1 or 2 engine that pair more appropriately with a HOTAS setup.

I had a nice surprise today
FedEx delivered early! I guess my Virpil stick is going to have to take a break for awhile

So, my first impressions
this thing is awesome. I love being able to use a proper gear handle. The autopilot control panel is really nice (with a nicer feel to the switches and knobs when compared to the Saitek multi-function panel. My only small grip so far is that I would have liked the GA throttle handles to have been a little bigger (about the same size around as the prop and mixture handles). Not a huge deal though.

Please excuse the untidy desk.

This. I’m not a pilot yet I still like to ‘whack’ something for the gear; pushing a button [key] just doesn’t seem right. Same, somewhat, for flaps. Nobody makes just a simple gear & flaps controller. I’ve had to make do with a fill-in.

I love the HC Yoke. The throttle is on my short list.

I don’t know if they meant to do it, and it’s a small thing, but the ‘shelf’ on top is perfect for the keyboard, as you’ve done here.

From what I have seen so far, I think you will really like the throttle. It’s actually not really doing the device justice to call it a throttle
more like ‘it’s also a throttle’.

Congrats Paul! She is looking pretty fine in your sim pit. Like you said, the first impressions have been really good.

Apparently, some customers are more week 3 than others. I haven’t received shipping notification yet. :unamused:

Hopefully you will get notification soon Dan!

Something else with regard to shipping
When I tracked the shipment it said delivery was scheduled before 20:00 on December 14th, and specifically for a week day delivery. So when you get your shipping notice, you can expect it to arrive quite a bit earlier.

Good luck to everyone who is waiting. All I can tell you is that it is worth the wait. The only criticism I have is the size of the handles being smaller than they would be IRL, but they are very functional. I just flew the Citation Longitude in MSFS with the twin jet configuration and it works great. You do need to make a separate configuration profile for the device in MSFS, but that is a simple enough thing to do.

I would guess that somebody with 3D printer could do some magic with that

To be honest, the only sim I have used it with so far is MSFS. Right now we are waiting for an update to the sim that will include native support for the extra features of the Bravo, such as the lights and annunciator panel. Even without them though, this is a fine piece of kit.
Drivers have been released for X-Plane, so I really should give them a try.

Having the big trim wheel positioned at the side like that reminds me very much of the King Air trim wheel. I’ll play around with the friction knob. So far I have been happy with the resistance of the levers without having to adjust anything,

The mounting method is identical to that of the yoke. In fact I would bet that the mounting plate is the same part.

My only criticisms would be the size of the throttle handles (both for prop aircraft and jets), and that by their design, they sit on top of the desk, which puts the controls a few inches higher than they should be. That is more of an issue with the yoke though.

I am also indifferent to whether the annunciator panel is fully functional. I prefer the sim’s annunciator panel. But the gear handle, like you said, is a game changer. I guess the RL pilots have that muscle memory. So this setup is really a $250 gear handle for flight sims!

I’d say my gripe is the trim wheel being “switches” instead of a slider. But I guess that would take some serious engineering (and $$$ to the consumer) to be compatible with a wide variety of games. Like you said, it “simulates” the King Air trim well (at least ergonomically), but in practice it is very slow compared to the real deal. I end up using the electric pitch trim, which in the real 350 (can’t speak for all King Airs) is very slow.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some 3rd party/aftermarket handles/knobs in the future. I wouldn’t expect 1:1 with the limited space of the Bravo, but near 1:1 is not out of the question.

However they do it, the operation is smooth and accurate. You get much finer trim adjustment with the wheel when compared to the electric trim switches on the yoke.

I’m guessing they did it this way so that the wheel can spin freely.
