I am impressed that it is even possible to use those! :open_mouth:

Y’all are a bad influence on me. I succumbed to Preorder Envy yesterday.

Incidentally, back to the discussion on helmets. My first good helmet fitting included ensuring that the helmet sat far back enough so that I couldn’t see the left or right edges when I was wearing it.

WWII goggles would of course be another matter.

Just got this message from bestware.com, my G2 retailer:

We would like to inform you about the status of your HP Reverb G2 pre-order.

HP has informed us that the Reverb G2 is currently being equipped with new, improved lenses in the production process. This upgrade will further increase the quality of the product, but according to HP it is accompanied by a slight delay in the initial delivery to all dealers. Based on the new availability date communicated to us by HP, we expect your order to be shipped by the end of October.

And as for the prescription lenses - VR Optician may have them available only in November / December 2020. Other manufactures do not have any info about them.

Noooooooooo!

Yeah, same here. I can live with that. Gives me plenty time to lay hands on a space heater.

After they have sent it out for pre-views…?

The new improvements might have to do with cheaper mass production

Well, they say it will increase the quality. That’s what I find a little hard to understand, since they have sent out several units for preview…
And this is the only instance where I’ve heard about it.
It arouses the sceptic in me.

Cheaper mass production/increase improvement. It improves production for them LOL
Whoever came up with the concept that managers bonuses are based on how much money they save should be shot. Lets hope this does not mean November. Thats too close to Chrismas and mail get goofy around here.

I run a company myself and I understand the logic of incentives for financial efficiency.

Of course many (large) companies are run with the maximisation of profit for their shareholders as the sole goal. This looks ugly when those profits are obscenely large.

But even then, you can’t have your people peeing away the money. A bonus (incentive) is a far better way to get them to work towards that than threats and punishment. Any parent will tell you honey catches more flies than vinegar

My company is small and fragile. We run just four numbers so to say  so when one of my guys ducks up to the tune of a thousand bucks, we suddenly are in dire straits and I’m losing sleep.

As an early adopter, I’m fine with the delay to improve the product. Lest we forget the trouble with Reverb G1. It’s a big investment, so I hope that it will built as good as it can be when it rolls out the door.

Hp italy is still not taking pre-orders! :man_facepalming:

i have really, really good vibes for a next year WINTER delivery!!! :man_facepalming:

I love how liberal that is “FALL”… To manufacturers and developers FALL= From Back to school till February. Winter= Anytime its not Hot (See Fall). Spring = Up for debate
Summer = Starts shortly after the snow melts but may include (but not limited to) parts of Fall (See Fall).

And then you have the southern hemisphere option…

Shipping forecasted to begin in early November.
More improvements as well.
*It will need to be plugged in to an electrical outlet.

Now, the news many of you have been anticipating:

  • Customers who has already pre-ordered the HP Reverb can expect to receive their shipments this fall, starting in early November 2020. Pre-orders are expected to be prioritized for the time/date the order was made to our channel partners.
  • Demand has been high so all pre-orders made starting today, September 24 will start arriving to customers from channel partners in early December.

After all the testing in our labs and by our VR team at home, these are some of the elements we are most excited about you trying out:

  • 2160x2160 per eye panel resolution
  • Render resolution and graphics powered by desktop GPUs
  • Superb Valve optics
  • Industry leading audio designed by Valve
  • Enhanced ergonomics
  • Upcoming VR support for Microsoft Flight Simulator

A few updates we have made to the product since we first announced Reverb G2:

  • We have updated the lenses to reduce the Fresnel ring reflections and improve clarity.
  • The menu button on the controllers is now domed so you can distinguish between the Windows and Menu buttons by touch.
  • In addition to the full size to mini display port adapter, a USB-C® to USB-A adapter will be included in every box.
  • Our Engineers found an opportunity to lower persistence without lowering brightness and this required higher power draw, so the HP Reverb G2 will require the adapter to be plugged into the wall.

What is persistence?
