I am Installing mine right now.
Waiting for Mixed Reality Portal to finish downloading.
I am setting up for sitting and standing as I only got 1x1,5m and the move around needs at least 1,5x2m
Happy Simming

I got the beast up and running and played around with some of the free stuff available for a bunch of hours. Had some trouble with controllers not responding as expected in some titles and items in areas that I couldn’t reach as I was banging into stuff. Sit Down setup and move around stuff is not a good combination. The controller issue is very lightly due to lack of native G2 support, so I will be playing around with that later.
The only time I got a little queasy was in Epic Roller Coasters. It helped when I tried the ERC shooter.
I then decided that I wanted to do some racing. Time to set up my new G29 wheel, where I am keeping the G27 pedals, as they have been modded to my satisfaction. I am also keeping the G27 shifter hooked up with a Leo Bodnar adaptor.
After fighting with missing G29 FFB for 2 hours I gave up and went to bed.
I continued fighting for another 4 hours after I got up again. Now the G29 FFB works again so I just need to dial it in in Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally 2 and Richard Burns Rally.
More to come later as I am of to bed again.
Happy VR Simming.
Congrats and welcome to the fold. Get your Il-2 on mate. You’ll love it
As i wrote above, seller was kind enough to let me try it [Reverb Pro] before buy it.
I realized that I have waited to jump on VR train for far too long. I am overgrown.
My eyes are right at the outside edges of the sweet spots. Even the max IPD settings of 66 in Win WMR didnt help much.
I spent circa 15mins in HL: Alyx stending on the balcony looking around. Centering the headset on my face helped a bit but after few head movements one eye or the other always ended up looking through the blurry region of the lense.
…wondering now if G2’s IPD of 68 will be enough
…but it was very nice outlook from that balcony
You should try a cockpit…
I just sent a mail to vrcovers.com asking them to do something for the G2. The default face thing does not fit me very well, my face is flatter than it wants it to be. Perhaps I should DIY something, but as handy as I am with concrete, soil, wood and such, I have zero knowledge or experience on making such a thing.
This dude just put in another headsets’ VRcover:
I belive you but I am already decided that that will happen this fall the soonest.
Two reasons
first ) no G2s available atm locally
second) this winter ( = long nights ) season is in its second half already. And I usually have none to minimum joystick time during summer season.
So it is back to my trusted 4k monitor-TV for now
ok after getting my prescription lenses and a little flight time…
DCS WWII Dogfighting
spotting far contacts is worse than Samsung Odyssey. I think it’s the same old story as with flat monitors… more pixel = smaller pixel (unless game developers start to develop resolution indipendent bogheys - Resolution independence - Wikipedia - before was one of the first of my squad to spot bandits… not anymore…
midrange-close combat is much better on the reverb. Image is much crisper, you can estimate much better plane type and aspect. For an even better experience i’m waiting a 3080! - 2080 super is good but still have some motion reprojection kicking in!
Eyes on cockpit is much much much better. you can read any dials and even the engine limits labels without unnaturally leaning in or zooming in. With odyssey even zooming and leaning i couldn’t read pression values to adjust altimeter. now is easy…
apart from this i like the fit and the headset being lighter!
Finally got in to see the eye doctor today - so have a fresh and new prescription! Just submitted my order to WidmoVR for HP Reverb G2 lens inserts - so I’m pretty excited for that! I went with both the high index and blue light options I’ll give the full report when they show up.
In the meantime…with my eyes still dilated…
I hate having my eyes dilated…so I just go with the fancy retinal scan thing that most optician’s offer these days. I have to pay for that out of pocket though, as the insurance company doesn’t think it is worth the money .
Yeah…my former doctor’s office had that…but is over an hour drive away. They were the same deal…insurance didn’t cover it (I think it was $80 or something?)…but I always paid for it. My new doctor - whose office is closer and more convenient, doesn’t have that machine. Bummer.
I think I’d drive the extra distance!
Hey man…you have a Tesla with autopilot…who cares if you can’t see?
LOL. I think it will be awhile before I could trust in the car to that extent.
One of my coworkers has one, the autopilot was fairly terrifying on the interstate when we went to lunch in it.
There are a lot of Tesla owners who are all to willing to trust in the technology. When it works, it works great, but there are times when it will do unexpected things, like slam on the brakes to avoid hitting…absolutely nothing.
In my case there are several ‘cool’ features that I have never used, or have only used to test them out. I then say “that’s cool” and never found I needed to use them again. It’s a fantastic car though…you just have to remember that you are the one in charge, not the car.
I loved the car, I just have trust issues with the autopilot.
My experience with autopilot functions in sims have taught me similar wariness
Hello , not sure if this is right thread but i just ordered Reverb G2 , was really intrested at pimax 8KX but have to use some money to my tesla rims and tyres so Reverb 2 is it.
Should be here tomorrow, can wait !
Me too.
Granted, I have only tried a Tesla on autopilot a couple of times. I just couldn’t relax and trust that I would be able to take control in time…
That’s the thing you have to be aware of all the time. In an airplane, “what the heck is it doing now?” can usually be sorted out in a fairly relaxed manner because there is time before things get dangerous. Not so much when driving a car.
I use it occasionally but it hasn’t proved to be the game changer I thought it would be. If I was to buy the car today I would have to think very carefully about whether it would be worth the extra expense for upgrading beyond the standard lane keeping, cruise control package. That’s just me though. I have control issues .
