IL-2 Desert Wings - Tobruk

Jason took over the Cliffs of Dover project to lessen the bad blood generated at 1C for abandoning the project which constantly spilled over into the Great Battles project.

There’s no way that BoX can ever get ALL theaters in it. The BoB being in CloD and its support means it’s one they can not think about, same with Tobruk now. At least we have it available, even if it’s not the same title.
There are zero chances of CloD getting the Pacific, so I’m hoping BoX goes there sooner rather than later, but of course we will know nothing until Normandy comes out. They never talk about anything further out than the next release.

I call this scene “The Death of a Torpedo Bomber”

On ne passe pas!

unfortunately mine was sitting in front of my face on my desk already. At least I’ll fly this and it has things I actually want in it, so yay?!?

Com’on folks. Just consider this like a tax that the government takes out of your paycheck.
You pay for a part of roads and schools to be built.

Now you’re paying for flightsims to be built.

Besides, my favorite wwII plane is the p-40. That’s all I fly in BoX. And I figure I’ll be crashing even more in this sim…

I’m not saying no, but I’m not saying yes either. I could cover some of these birds, but not all of them like I did for Cliffs of Dover.

Speaking of P-40s…

A few shots of the RAAF No. 3 Squadron over Tobruk

Kittyhawk Mk IA (over Derna)

Tomahawk Mk II (over Derna as well… note the interesting machinegun configuration)

I’ll gladly substitute my guide; If it sounds like it’s gonna blow up, lower your settings  If you can’t hear the engine, turn up your volume.

The good thing about WWII North Africa is that it was an operations area full of crap planes.

I always loved the dogfights in the early *hawks and Hurris vs. FIATs and Emils in good old IL-2 classic.

I reinstalled over the weekend, and now that I’ve got control profiles set up and extras downloaded, I’ve had fun so far.

I’ve only been able to play around in little bits so far (life has gotten busy, with virtual conferences and classes starting back next week), but mostly relearning the Bf-109 and Spitfire/ learning the bombers and twin-engines. I had the worst time imaginable with keybinds previously, but three hours on the ATAG wiki and Youtube and the realization that I can create unique profiles for each bird is suddenly making this a lot less daunting. Also, the stuff Heinkill created for CLOD back in the day has been updated for Blitz (don’t know if you ever read the series he did on a theoretical Operation Sealion going forward- I think it was also part of his masters thesis).

Definitely will be picking up Tobruk, though now I’m wondering how fast new content (missions, campaigns) will be added, since the base game is only shipping with a few missions and I think 2 campaigns.

There are 7 additional campaigns.
