You should make sure hyperthreading is on for your cpu @Rhinosaurus.
Is there a way to change the default aircraft registration? I keep forgetting to set my rego in the ATC tab. Would be great if the changes we make there were persistent.
It’s a bit of work, but there is indeed a way. I haven’t tried this myself yet. I hope that this is something you can some day do simply on your profile.
Ooh, that is good.
I would love to assign a standard registration (ideally per aircraft) since I also keep forgetting to change it.
Oh, and a little advice: Be cautious and have an eye on the fuel when flying the Citation Longitude.
It seems to guzzle down its fuel like crazy. Something is off there (or I did something horribly wrong). I could neither reach the advertised top speed of ~480 knots, nor the efficiency. I am pretty sure it cannot reach its advertised range of ~3500 miles at all. Not even close.
Gear up…? ![]()
Yep. Gear up, flaps up, spoilers in.
(Yes I double checked because I could not believe it.
)
Haha…I did that once in a Citation II way early in my career. I was the SIC flying and we were climbing through about FL180 and the II is already a dog and this day it was just…awful. I say to the PIC “something doesn’t feel right…like the stick is rumbling and performance is crap”. He points to the landing gear handle (which HE had raised) and the light next to it is still green. He had lifted it but stopped the movement just a fraction from the true UP position…so the gear was still down. He tapped it with his finger…“thump thump” the noise went away and the plane started climbing better (a relative term). How embarrassing. Proof that just saying the words on the checklist without CHECKING the things on the checklist nets you no better results. From that day to present day I point my finger at the gear lights during the after takeoff checklist and actually TOUCH the gear lights and handle for the gear down item. (And check it two more times before landing…sort of compulsive about it…)
We’ve introduced tactile settings. Everytime we make a AP/FD mode, altitude select or FMC change we call it, point at it and wait for a checked call from the monitoring pilot. Basically pointing where we want the buddy to look.
And you’re right. Saying checked without actually checking, doesn’t do anything for you. But it becomes a reflex response. We’re kind of like Pavlovs dogs, that way… ![]()
I went to check out the Lower Rhine region and western Ruhr-Area (Essen, Mühlheim an der Ruhr, Duisburg, Oberhausen, Bottrop) in a Cub today and I am very impressed. Everything is very recognisable, most landmarks like towers, industry etc a very well modelled.
I took off from Essen-Mühlheim (EDLE) flew a circle over Essen, then south until I crossed the river Ruhr and turned west towards the Rhine. On the way I flew over Mühlheim and Duisburg and then turned north, following the Rhine to Wesel where I turned around and flew east over the small town of Voerde and finally landed in Schwarze Heide (EDLD).
I can’t be bothered to fly big tube liners tbh but small GA aircraft like a Cessna, the Cub etc are pretty fun to fly around in and should we ever get an AccuSim P-51D i’ll certainly get it just to compare it to DCS xD
That being said, my main sim will stay DCS for sure. It just ticks more boxes for me.
I suppose you don’t feel the gears and locks much in such a small aircraft?
it’s amazing how many scenery addon’s / updates have been contributed in such a short time

A few years ago, I saw the Scorpions at the concert stage that’s currently there. It felt like a betrayal.
Looks like the start of RWY 36 currently has some flooding issues.
That’s why there’s a float plane.
Does anyone know if any of the planes have the instrument approaches to EIDL (Donegal) preloaded (Garmin)? I’m in the Caravan and the approaches aren’t in the database. (I’ll check later…but if anyone else if flying something else right now if you don’t mind checking your database.)
I’ll take a look…
@BeachAV8R… There are no EIDL arrivals or approaches in the database on the Longitude…
Had a beautiful flight over from Dublin to Donegal - some gorgeous terrain between the two. Shot the LOC to 21 with a stiff 15-18 mph crosswind…fun stuff.
