Looks cool! (I am the bestest helicopter crasher ever!)

Oh yes sir!
I like that plane a lot.
Wasn’t that used in 'Nam as airborne FAC?
Yes indeed, the “Oscar Deuce” replaced the O-1 Bird Dog.
I have a friend who has not one but two! The second is for parts while he restores the first to something as close to its former warbird state as he can manage. He even has a camera for the port. But that’s not all! He is also currently flying his second O-1 Birddog. The first was in Army white and red. The new one is in a very cool Marines livery. I am not sure it that is authentic but it looks terrific. The man likes his wartime Cessnas.
Super Constellation looks nice…
Oh Man, you made my day. Even not being study level it looks so cool and its exactly the type of airplane i like more.
The nirvana is an A2A Connie for msfs, but sadly not even on dreams.
Oooohh nice!
As requested a brief writeup of the Flying Iron P-38.
She’s a pretty bird, with some of the polished liveries looking amazing.
The cockpit allows for the GPS to be fitted, which is quite handy since the only other nav tools are a heading indicator and two compasses.
Overall the graphics are very solid, and in general everything looks very good.
A brief note, these switches located to the left of the seat MUST be set on and emergency as shown if you want fuel flowing to the engines above 10,000’ SL.
Handling is good and the FM is reasonable based on what I know. She is a very fast climber, and in general a very smooth handling AC. The linked turbo-superchargers allow you to simply set the manifold pressure and forget it to over FL300. You will still be getting 50" of manifold at FL30 at 2650 rpm. It’s pretty amazing how easy it is to manage the engine compared to some of it’s other brethren. Speaking of this model does feature some limited engine damage modeling if you run the engines too hot for too long. You’ll start to see vapor trails from the engines, and eventually smoke and engine failure.
The problem is that this all seems to be a function of manifold pressure. Playing with the different shutters seems to do very little, and you will always be running on the very edge of the green zone on the gauges even with a very conservative power setting. Visually the supercharger radiator doors do open and close when the switch is toggled, and if you fiddle enough you can get the oil cooler and coolant doors to open too, but that don’t seem to affect temps any.
There is a tablet you can access which has been updated from release that has plenty of data on it including temps, etc. And a basic heading and altitude autopilot. Lastly you can use it to set fuel loading, which will add or remove the drop tanks.
The dive flaps do exist, and they do work. They also will absolutely not save you if you dive too fast from too low. Not that I found that out or anything…
With some upgraded systems modeling Flying Irons version of the P-38 could be amazing. As is, it’s sim lite on the engine, but still a gorgeous ride. For fast air tourism, it’s really hard to beat a prop job that can do 300kias at FL300.
If anyone wants more pics let me know and I’ll take some more screen shots.
Thanks for the write up! Looks like a great bird.
The Wing42 Boeing 247D looks like it is shaping up nicely. The devs are hoping for a release before Christmas but no promises.
I am resisting buying the DC-6 since the only aircraft I really want is the DC-3.
I bought the Electra even though the only aircraft I really want is the DC-3.
The Boeing 247D indeed looks great but I already have the Electra and the only aircraft I really want is… you know by now
The DC-3 is also slated for before Christmas so I will most likely wait for reviews (even after update, the Electra still has issues not addressed by AH)…
…and then probably get both
The DC6 right now is in a league of it’s own, and if you have any interest in classic airliners then you won’t regret the purchase…but it isn’t a DC3. I find that I have to be in the right mood to fly the DC6 because it takes some forethought and planning to do it right, even with the use of the automated flight engineer, which I use on every flight with a clear conscience.
I’m looking forward to the AH DC3. I just hope that they do it justice. Evidently they are bringing their Lancaster to MSFS early next year as well. After the backlash from the Electra release, which seemed rushed and unfinished, hopefully they will release both aircraft when they are polished and ready.
We also have a Lockheed Constellation on short final that looks very promising. I will definitely be picking that one up as soon as it drops. I doubt it will match the DC6 in quality, but PMDG set the bar awfully high.
What?!?!? You like multi prop liners and still not have the PMDG DC6???
That is a sin
