Mudspike Golf Club - 2025

Dammit. My man cave is still out of action and I’m plagued with glorious good weather that I can’t pass up the opportunity to fix those jobs that need doing. It’s even buggering up my RL golf.

Thanks Chris, my issues with packet loss (confirmed*) seem to have been resolved, still getting the occasional ‘nah, not playing nice’ but nowhere near as bad. I will give it a go.

*I had a mate talk me through some simple tests using Wireshark and sent the logs to my ISP. That finally got them to admit that the issue wasn’t at my end.

Round 1 complete. I was happy enough with it. Played conservatively and tried to aim for the fat parts of the fairways and greens (mostly). Got pretty lucky with some up and downs…could have easily been + a few. Some of those greens are brutally slippery…I think I have a rainy day in the four days with softer conditions…and nothing worse than “medium” for greens and fairways I think…

This user made course looks pretty good. I don’t know how closely it compares to the real thing. I guess whoever owns 2K23 is pretty good about deleting user made courses that have Augusta in the title. I think “Georgia” is even in the swear filter. Nuts. There was a LIDAR one I was looking for but apparently 2K23 deleted it.

Hope you get it fully sorted. Connectivity issues can be so frustrating. At my old house the cable was buried and the run was about 300’ from the telephone pole to my house…I guess about the limit of what coaxial could do. Whenever it rained and water pooled in the soil…something about the conductivity or something would cause issues.

I saw you following me  Considering I am really rusty and generally suck when it is windy, five over for the round is about what I was expecting.

Especially when you think you have adjusted adequately for said wind, hit the ball pretty much in the sweet spot… but even though it hits the fairway, kicks left at almost 90 degrees and ends up here:

Or, you slightly undercook a chip onto the green which lands about 5ft short of the pin but then rolls back to here:

Second round in the books. Started awful with a bogey / par / double-bogey…then settled in with a couple birdies and all pars. I think I was +1 by the end of the second round. Stormy round for round 3 I’ll try to play tonight…

All rounds complete. My performance was very…milquetoast…

My second round was much better than my first. Made up a couple of strokes to bring me down to 3 over.

However, I have that sinking feeling that it will be my best effort for the tourney

Round Three done.

When I looked at the conditions I was fully expecting this:

But for some reason I ended up with:

rocky-and-bullwinkle-moose-and-squirrel

Well, like Bullwinkle I didn’t pull a rabbit out of a hat, but I sure did pluck a hare out of my arse…

Going into the final round with an even card.

Heading into round four, all that was running through my mind was, Don’t…

And you can see exactly where I choked…

But, I managed to salvage a one over for the tournament, so sorry Chris but I will take that.

I’m now just waiting for @Chaz to drop in at the last minute and rain on my parade :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Eh sorry gents, been busy lately and haven’t gamed much. Not going to make this one.
On a side note, it was great watching Rory win the Masters yesterday. Quite emotional after so many years of trying.

The first hole is always a disaster seemingly…then I settled in…

I will be able to get the first round in starting tomorrow… But jeez, talk about getting psyched out seeing that seven under before I even start

And thanks for posting that link to the Course Guide.

Pity about the two bogeys at the end. Otherwise an ‘OK’ first round. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Pretty happy with this round after a bit of a layoff. Only bogey involved chipping from one bunker into a second one. Putting in general was solid, though the greens helped with that a lot. The tight tree lines made it a bit trickier to go big on the drive, overall nice course!

And the putting went to hell again. Had a few less then stellar approaches as well, but primarily 2-3 and even 4 putting was what killed me.

Yes…I thought the fairways were interesting. Tight…with lots of overhanging trees for consideration on the second shot. Very beautiful course design…

My second round was not very good. I think you can get a few birdies and take the match!
