The Proart and Taichi Mobos are going hard on this gold/black design I think they’d be a perfect match for Zotac 50 series GPUs.
Is Zotac a good GPU??
It’s very true.
I’m currently in the process of converting an old 8th gen gaming PC into a home server. It is lovely - 3 x16 slots (which I’ll be running in x8/x8/x4) and 2 x1 slots. All gen 3, but that was the best at the time. So I can easily fit a GPU, an old x8 HBA controller for extra drives, and still have a x4 for better networking and 2 x1 slots free for anything else that takes my fancy.
I fear these new boards might be less suitable for re-use, once the CPU is no longer suitable for gaming? I know you can get x16/x1/x4 pretty commonly… but I’d still need to replace my old HBA…
Never had a problem with mine. I had 3 cards from them in the studio at some point.
That’s no motherboard…it’s a space station!
I started ordering the first component. Mainboard and Graphics card availability is a little scarce…
What’s the plan? Full AMD or go with our overpriced green AI overlords?
Haven’t decided yet. I want to see how 5070Ti prices and availability unfold. Also I’m keeping an eye on the 4000 generation.
I actually don’t need that much horsepower as I play pancake in 1080p. Might as well get a 4070 Ti and upgrade later.
In that case I would go 9800X3D and AMD card. You really don’t need much for DCS in 1080p
Yes 9800x3d is set. Only need a MoBo that is actually available.
What would be your recommendation for an AMD card. I had one 15 years ago which had driver issues and died a heat death. Since then I was Team Green and never looked back.
For 1080p a 7800XT or even a 7700XT should be more than enough, even overkill, but the 7800XT leaves the option to upgrade the monitor. A buddy has a 7900XTX and he’s very happy playing in VR on a Rift S though there still seem to be a few issues with VR support sometimes. The driver issues are generally a thing of the past though. It’s been pretty good since the 6000 series cards from what I’ve heard.
I have a 6800 XT and no driver issues since two years. Adrenalin is nice.
Depending on budget I‘d go for 7900 XT which is ~700€ in Germany. It has the same TDP as the 6800 XT, 320 Watt. The brand named XFX makes great metal housings.
7800 XT is 200€ less. 7900 XTX is 200€ more.
I thought the 7900XTX’ VR performance was below 6900XT? When did they fix the latency issues?
Not sure, he got it for a very good price and is playing on a pretty low resolution headset so maybe it’s not that big of an issue for him. I’d have to ask.
The NVMe’s arrived yesterday…
One last beauty shot of all those magnificent boxes, before I tear into them!
Hey Man,
That is looking real nice but it will run good too. which GPU you going to pair those parts with?
I have a 4090 in my current, or now disassembled, PC, that I will transfer to this one.
WoWsers that PC is going to be an excellent gaming rig for sure…
Some more VR CPU benchmarks. Not a very demanding scenario to be sure but the 9800X3D is looking superb here
The 3600X should be fairly close to your 3700X in terms of performance @Rapier
