a great interview between the lead devs of GHPC and Steel beasts pro
This is amazing, and I need a similar set up for myself and the kids:
Holy moly!
Brilliant. Never mind the recycled material, thatâs genius.
Honestly? The recycled material makes sense, to me. Find a flat end cap from something else thatâs due for the bin and glue it to the bottom of the bottles, then paint 'em up in a brass coat. Thatâd look sweet.
Same, I thought using the 2L bottles was genius.
Even better would be a mechanism by which full bottles were inserted, then drained and an empty bottle ejected.
In the style and tech level of that operation, itâd have to be a fat guy chugging them down lol
The ENY does not look as aggresive as you. Is it AI? Shooting fish in a barrel?
Yeah, GHPC is singleplayer only in its current state.
It needs MP soooo badly.
And multi crew!
MMP Multicrew is the perfect package. The team within the team of human players.
Do you know when it is gonna evolve into a MP multicrew?
Probably a long time from now, unfortunately. They donât give estimates and its the last thing on their list:
Too bad, Steel fury, T34 vs Tiger, etc⊠which were great WWII armor sims never reached their full potential because they were not MMP. Mediocre sims which are MMP are still played today. Great sims which are MMP are also still played today ie Arma, SBProPE . Gamers like Ai up to a point and then get tired of it.
Is multiplayer a strap-on afterthought?
I donât think so. Look at games that excel at it. They are built around MP.
Itâs not 1995 anymore.
So my hopes for this game ever being (good) MP is pretty low.
I hear what youâre saying, and youâre not wrong, but consider VTOL VR. Launched SP only, went for years without MP, got modded for MP, then MP was added and is really amazing, probably the best implementation of VR MP flight sim thus far.
Iâm not saying itâs the norm, but it can be done. The GHPC Team has done some really awesome work so far, and at their own pace (without making broken promises and missed release dates). Iâm willing to wait for what I think could become a really awesome MP experience.
I purchased GHPC. I played SteelBeastProPE and WarThunder for years. GHPC looks good. But I am annoyed by the lack of practicability of the controls; they have not been designed for speed. Speed and accuracy in armor are vital (as in any combat sims). A TC yells his orders, so the command transmission is much faster because it is at the âspeed of sound.â You are alone in that machine when you should be 3, so the command should be fluid to compensate for the absence of complement. What is it that this game wants to simulate specifically? It should be clearly explained.
From a certain point of view you are right. War Thunder has some perfect control scheme, I think that makes every other tank game a bit less immediate.
I am absolutely fond of Tier 2 tanks.
I looked at what WIKIPEDIA said about War Thunder and I copy pasted a passage regarding the âimmediateâ aspect.
Military training tool
In 2020, Task & Purpose reported[82] that the US 1st Cavalry Division tankers were using War Thunder for training during COVID-19 quarantine. After looking at several games including World of Tanks, the soldiers found that War Thunder best met their needs. In 2022 and 2024, the National Military College of Argentina have published photos and videos showing their cadets using a âmilitary simulatorâ that turned out to be War Thunder.[83][84][85] In 2021, a video of Republic of Koreaâs 3rd Armored Brigade using War Thunder for the Command & Control training session was made public.[86]
In January 2024, a Ukrainian M2 Bradley IFV gunner Serhii of the 47th Brigade took down a heavily armored Russian T-90M tank by hitting the weak spots and claimed that videogames taught him where to shoot exactly.[87] According to media,[88][89] War Thunder is the only game that matches this description. Task & Purpose said:[90] âPeople know War Thunder for leaking classified documents, but now it might actually be known as the game that has the first confirmed kill.â
That would certainly explain why so many gamers are frustrated with it.
A long time ago, I played with Magnum50 Steal Beast Pro PE against a couple of tankers from Fort Knox US Army. The game lasted 10 minutes and both our turrets levitated in the air as if it was an act of god. They were trained by pros we werenât. They did not cheat, and it was frustrating.
Not entirely sure what is the point youâre making.
Admittedly Iâm not a native English speaker thoughâŠ
Immediacy is very real, and should be included in every simulation, yet it frustrates simers, hence it is often somewhat attenuated.
