It’s going to be an animated gif of that Sean guy just pointing and laughing.
Been playing for a few hours now (over the past couple days) and I am just about to finish the tutorial. I have the antimatter but I kinda want to ‘spend’ it on a Exo Suit upgrade instead of going to a different star system. But I also can’t really see a way to get more other than via the market?
You should have the recipe to make antimatter and the housing by following the tutorial. It probably requires you to travel to another system to trigger it though.
Ok. So travel it is
Bah, for the first time in a few weeks I was going to have half an hour to play something and I fired up No Man’s Sky…only to find out there’s a big update that needs to be downloaded first. Ah well, next time.
So I’ve started falling down this rabbit hole, because hurricane, and I can only fly for so long at a time… Pictures incoming.
BTW, how in the blazes are you supposed to survive contact with those sentinals?!
Don’t harvest near them. Don’t attack them. Not until you have good weapon on your multiroom anyway
There was a random outpost with a reinforced door and a couple of these puppers guarding it. My peashooter barely scratched them until they took me out, noting that I wasn’t very well prepared for the fight.
Round two after recovering my stuff had to be planned better. I figured that my Bumblebee is basically an extremely ugly future version of a P-47…and it has a photon cannon intended for space combat. Surely the doggos aren’t sturdy enough to eat the ship weapon beams.
I did a nice slow circle around the target, not unlike in my trusted Huey in another universe…and zoomed in, gun blazing. It worked very well! A short burst and the b*tch was dead, quite literally.
I found a nice Synchronised Exhaust for my suit from inside the base, so all in all the canine extermination was worthwhile.
So, I found an abandoned base with Whispering Eggs all over it, and tried to harvest one.
Holy crap, what were those Pitch Black - looking monster things, and how are you supposed to kill them? I’ve added the Boltcaster to my multitool, and I still don’t think I made a dent in any of them before I was seeing the reload screen.
LOL. I know people have determined a way to block them off when they spawn so they can harvest the rest of them. Never done it myself.
The forum kindly pointed out that I’ve posted more than 30% of the posts in this tread (oops)…but since it’s not a particularly busy topic, I’m going to go ahead and continue dumping screenies in hopes of luring more travellers into the game
I’ve been exploring a pretty neat winter planet with snowy forests:
These beautiful floating crystals held some nice treasures…I felt a bit bad blasting them to pieces but hey, it’s for a good cause (a specific charity called Bearhedge’s Broke Traveller’s Fund).
Evidently I’m clinically unable to visit a trade outpost without staying there for stupid amounts of time, comparing the coming & going ships, looking for an upgrade. I’m also equally unable to pick ships that are pretty / sleek, it seems.
This B-Class Shuttle sports 26 general slots and 8 technology slots. The ship I bought was called The Nemesis of Dawn or something…I made a minor amendment to make the name more appropriate. Behold, The Nemesis of Aerodynamics:
And there I was, thinking the F-111 was ugly…
It’s still not pretty but I would say it’s a step in the right direction
You may call the f111 ugly. But it’s turned up nose is pointed in your direction.
also, its no Tonka…
Trippy…
Suddenly, a bouncing pineapple monster from outer space emerged.
Re-entry angles that would require some serious heat shielding in Kerbal Space Program don’t seem to be an issue for these vehicles.
Like others before me here, I also stumbled upon a capital ship to call my own, which is nice!
The freighter / merchant vessel that came with it looks seriously cool.
Rust bucket, you say? Better sold for scrap metal? Should have left her where I found her, abandoned in the wastelands, half covered in sand?
You’re laughing now and it is true, she does need some serious work, that’s for sure…hull fractures, radiation leaks, shattered bulwarks, containment failures, damaged gears…the laundry list is long as my arm.
I tell you what though, underneath all that rust she’s a beauty!
I’ll have to strip mine a few large continents clean of resources to get her to fly right again…but one day she will, mark my words!
EDIT:
Joyride - Woohoo! Hours of farming and tinkering later…still with a good chunk of systems offline…but she flies once more!
Still have a few thousand units of chromatic metal to farm, without even mentioning quite a bit of paraffinium and platinum…but I’ll get there.
I’ll post some screens when I get home tonight, but I have questions. I’ve used the signal booster to locate things, and found my first crashed freighter and drop pod, but made the mistake of walking there from my current planetside base, and now can’t call for my ship- apparently you should fuel it up after landing, and before leaving to go somewhere else. If I’ve activated the beacon thing at a location, how easy is it to say, leave, go to a station and orbit, then return later to the planet and find the same sites at the beacons later? Asking because apparently the only way I can find the blueprint to make antimatter (needed for that drop pod) is to go look for it elsewhere?
Someone else may be able to respond better but I’ll try.
As far as I can tell, there is no ‘auto-mapping’ system that would let you recall old points of interest. If you set up a base, that’ll work as a permanent marker - and you can swap between active mission markers in the mission screen, which are permanent until the mission is finished.
Is the drop pod one for exosuit upgrade? Because I lost one of those after partially repairing it and I was annoyed…but I found another one later and the repair had carried over from the first one.
The location save points (“location discovered: Donkadonk Flats” or whatever) do get listed in your log - I haven’t tried recalling those but it may be possible.
From memory I got the antimatter blueprint through the main storyline early on so might pay to do that first and worry about finding another drop pod later.
