I use the kneeboard a lot for my stable of aircraft, even in non-VR. You’ll want it for the Farmer because there’s quite a few steps involved for a lot of the procedures.
You know, that’s a major hangup with me as well and I haven’t gone nearly as deep into some of these as I should.
I’m wondering if setting up a little desktop window showing videos while in VR might be the way to go. I think that Oculus can do that. Not sure about performance though…
Well, I just caved myself. Similar to @Brix, I told myself I wasn’t going to buy anything in the sale, but the Farmer has a @Baltic_Dragon campaign. Can’t really say no to that, can you?
You will enjoy it. Right now it really is in a great state. Just remember, if you are going to build missions or join a multiplayer server, be careful what you are up against. It doesn’t do well against 1980s and up aircraft.
But out there are also brave comrades who are not afraid of anyone and anything. This Soviet Hero [ eastern consultant ] was ready to mix it on Blue Flag Persian Gulf server. I was sitting there in amazement. Respect !
Hey Bruxelles! Good to see you mate! There isn’t that much to memories in MiG-19, I strongly recommend you to get it. And I basically made and tested the tutorials in VR so you should be good to go! And @Roo thanks for the kind words!
Thank you - to be honest, I faltered at the final hurdle yesterday and couldn’t bring myself to buy (I just spent a lot on my PC - and after splashing on the 2080Ti my router went belly up within hours - so more money required), but I’m a bit of a mug when it comes to flight sims - especially during sales, so I will go there right now and correct this wrongdoing and repent for the rest of the day!
Regarding memory cells, well, you know you are in trouble when you keep forgetting the name of your own dog!
Hope things are well with you
**done - £20.13 not too bad a price to pay, but surely headaches are not far away
Brix,
I fear you have influenced me to pick up the 19 also- curse you! While I only picked up the 2060 Super I have found I want yet another toy to poorly operate! Thus tarnishing my ego again! Lol
LOL! I’m in my current medical condition because my new PC’s WiFi card went Tango Uniform. It’s evidently integrated with the motherboard so I was thinking I’ll just switch to CAT5 rather than spend the money to pack it off to get repaired or replaced…in (painful) hindsight, not my best decision.
I have spent two years in the circle of hell named customer support for a cable ISP. No, that was not a bad decision. WiFi is the devil. It is evil. It must be banished for any purpose other than checking mudspike while bombing out the porcelain throne.
I only used WiFi recently because I’m using an Asus motherboard and on my last two the LAN chip went within a year or so. This time it wasn’t to blame. Normally I’m wired all the way. WiFi is for laptops, tablets, TV and phones.
OK - just completed the start-up tutorial mission. Lovely model.
Did notice some things didn’t go quite as expected - I’ll check the forum to see if they are known issues (nothing major - just warning lamps) and I’ll also get a pictorial start-up guide done within the next few days.
Nice to see the start-up checklist on the kneeboard - hopefully that will catch on.
The comms and ARK audio switch is backwards
When using a key/button map to arm the guns, it arms the opposite gun
Can’t seem to get the ARK frequency to tune with a key map
O2 doesn’t seem to work at all…although I have not experienced virtual asphyxia
Fortunately all the radar and fire control systems seem to work as advertised …although I’ve never caught the radar temperature warning light come on before the the radar shuts down.
No matter how many times I set the radio, no reply from ATC.
No afterburner lights.
Also, the virtual instructor says that the low hydraulic pressure light extinguishes after the left engine is started, but it didn’t extinguish until both were started.
Like I said, minor issues - looking at the ED forum for this module I see that these have been reported in the past, but if I understood correctly, they were supposed to be fixed. Maybe they broke again after another update?
edit: Forgot - didn’t see the mil power lights, either. I took screenshots of the whole procedure, to use in the guide - maybe of use?
