Some of the changes coming to ACC 1.9

Hi all,

I didn’t want to start a new topic since there seems to be some traffic here. I’m not sure if I understand ACC’s custom livery limitations. AC seems to allow an unlimited amount of liveries and add-on cars. Unfortunately, it is my understanding that ACC is limited. I believe it only allows you to add a max total of six custom skins. I think I read somewhere that this feature was implemented for online racing leagues and is unsupported. Is this accurate?

Also, I’ve been looking for a discussion that compares different racers and their limitations regarding liveries and mods. I can’t seem to find anything comprehensive but have picked up bits and pieces. For example, I understand Project Cars 2 only allows one custom livery per car.

Do any of you think this is a topic worth discussing or exploring?

Thoughts?

For myself I’ve pretty much given up the idea of competing for the front of the pack in a multiplayer race. Still fun and a good race can be had in the middle to the backmarkers. And usually you can collect the ā€˜dead’ and gain a position or two.

Cheers,
TeTeT

I agree - racing in the midfield is often the most fun - but first you have to get to the midfield! :face_exhaling:

Does anyone who races in ACC at a very average level know of any sources for free setups? I have zero knowledge of car racing mechanics and have reached a point where I can’t progress. I’m unwilling to pay the silly prices I keep coming across in my searches. Thanks.

@trevorr610 all sim racing topics are welcome. However im not a custom livery guru and with the handful of mudspikers that sim race, not sure if anyone can help. Have you tried these popular forums:

  • Kunos Simulazioni
  • Race Department
  • Steam Community
  • GT Planet
  • AV Forums

@Camembert The thing I’ve learned with setups is one size doesn’t always fit all. Maybe in stock car oval racing, but road racing is a completely different beast.
My recommendation is if you’re willing to pay to improve, hire a sim racing coach to learn proper braking and apex entry and exit. Your money will go a lot further in coaching than a random setup that may not fit your driving style. Plus a setup that works in today’s version of ACC may not work well in the next updated version (i.e. v1.9 is out this Wednesday with MAJOR physics and tire model overhaul).
I have shaved off time in my pace by watching others on youtube and multiplayer lobbies. But I’m certainly far from alien status.

Best place to start. These should help. Might be for the most novice but lays it all out.

And at the end it all comes down to tyre pressures

There was a playlist on YouTube by a guy who explained all set-up points. I downloaded the whole set of videos and recently watched them. I thought they were a bit too basic for what i wanted, but they may suit someone new to the process. I’ll see if I can find it - they were made with Project Cars in mind but would suit any racing sim.

That’s if you need them after the above ones!

PS - think there were 10 vids.

This is it! Amongst many others on YT.

though if you just want set-ups and not want to know how to do them, I dunno…

@Chaz Thanks for the response. I haven’t tried the other forums yet. Mudspike tends to be my first stop whenever I hit a Google dead end. lol! I’ll definitely give those forums a try.

@Camembert I am very much a casual racing sim driver so I generally don’t adjust much and just drive it like I stole it.

But I do have a lot of experience doing track days on a motorcycle. Pay close attention to the tyre pressure vid that weaponz248 posted. No amount of fiddling with suspension settings (pre-load, damping and rebound) will help if your tyre pressures are off.

I love how much coverage you can get on YouTube these days. The 963 was victorious at Long Beach, so lets see how they do in Portugal.

Yes I recently found that out with my golf cart! I had neglected to check them because unlike bicycles or cars they didn’t look low. Then I saw the outer rims were wearing and checked them…10 psi!!! :grimacing:

ACC update is live.

Mike posted a really good summary of the physics changes.

For what it’s worth, Indiegala is running a sale on some of the older ACC DLCs. Pretty good discount. I just picked up the American Track Pack and the Challengers one. You just need to jump through a few more hoops on their store page, but everything worked out okay and I got my keys activated on Steam.

Having a frustrating time so far with my ā€œday of sim racingā€. I thought I’d start with AC seeing as we’d been talking about it and I’d downloaded the mods.

First up (in VR with Quest 2 and VD in desktop mode) is an error for the Ferrari 296. I couldn’t take a screenie, so I’ll deal with that later. Next I check that my controls are working as they should - no issues there with my G29 and extra mouse & keyboard.

So I go to choose a car - first off, I really don’t like having all the cars I don’t own included on the list, with a ā€œDLCā€ flag in the corner - not only that, but when I click on it, instead of taking me to Steam’s store (I am using Steam to play the game, after all) it opens a browser and takes me to the Steam website, for which I will have to sign in if I want to buy the car/pack, for which I have to get my tablet for the auntheticator.

So I think ā€œstuff that!ā€ and go back to the sim and choose a nice BMW LMP style (can’t remember what it’s called) and then find that, despite installing all those tracks I’d found through links here and those on the YT channels linked to, the only USA track in my list is Laguna Seca (a OEM track).

So I thinks I’ll give that a go - but just when it starts loading the SteamVR screen appears - seems AC has binned VR - but turns out it’s still running on my monitor (behind me, cos my wheel set-up is opposite my main PC set-up) in 2D. My efforts to try and get it back to VR just result in a second AC starting!

This is a brilliant example of why I rarely bother with racing sims. It’s a great example of why I don’t bother with flight sims, for that matter - cos there is always some boll** that messes me around.

On to PCars, then, cos I am determined to spend the time driving, not messing around trying to suss why I’m getting messed around.

Seeya later

Hey Johnny, for AC, are you using Content Manager as a replacement for that ancient interface? Although it can’t help solve the confusion of the Steam Store, it does have a really nice way of doing everything else. I haven’t used the default AC interface in years.

I just found this channel a few days ago and this guy has some great ACC setups and lap walk-throughs in his videos. He is doing his first live stream today and takes you through how he sets up a car.
