Sim Racing/Driving Discussion and News

Apex appears to be the working title, but could be final. APXGP is apparently the team name. Judging by what Brad said in the interview with Martin and all over the released photos so far, it should be Top Gun Maverick style pseudo-authentic racing film. A fictional team mixed into current real world teams.
F1 teams are helping with the production (I think Mercedes supplied the cars for filming), the FIA is assisting, and Lewis Hamilton is personally involved. So you know these teams and drivers wouldn’t get involved if the film production was going to go cheap.

I dunno
cant imagine someone saying ā€˜this isnt correct, I am out’, but could be wrong.

thinking about it now, it could be incorrect and not cheap at all, so … dunno

I’m sure that it will be a fun ride and most likely get two thumbs up from the Critical Drinker. However, as the resident curmudgeon I need to also comment that not even wunderkind Max could win in an Alphatauri  :beers:

It’s about time to get back into the rig… Our next rFactor 2 GT3 season starts with a test race in Interlagos next week Thursday. Just for the odd chance anyone wants to join, here our ā€˜flyer’ on instagram:

New Forza Wheel List and PC requirements were released, also no VR

That’s shameful, IMO. Like futbol, VR is life!

Aint gonna stop me from jury rigging it some how…

As it stands, Forza Motorsport will be the only eSports Racing Sim on PC without VR.

I’ve been smashing ACC since thehumble bumble bundle, tonight is the first time I’ve tried it in VR.

Yay, it looked amazing but oh after a few laps of Hungaroring, motion sickness kicked in. I’ve only been using VR for flying for ages and really struggled. It’s been a long time since VR has crippled me as badly.

I hear you. It bothered me initially. I could only take like 10 mins driving in VR. But one day I decided to see if I could do 20 mins, then the next session 30, and a few days later had gone an hour and didn’t have an issue with it afterward. It’s like your brain figures it out and you are forever changed. At least it was like that for me. Every now and then if the fps are low, I’ll have a momentary bout. But that’s pretty rare.

EA Sports states the Dynamic Handling System will deliver ā€œthe most realistic off-road experience to date,ā€ featuring personalized handling settings designed to mirror professional setups. A new ā€˜Builder’ option lets you create and customize your own rally car, while ā€˜Moments’ recreate key scenes from both the 2023 season and ā€œclassic events from the sport’s archives.ā€ 32-player lobbies were also confirmed for online multiplayer.

Finally! There was a lot to like about WRC 10, the last version that I purchased. But I didn’t invest much time in the game, since it lacked VR. Looking forward to sim driver reviews once it rolls out VR.

Can anyone recommend a simple content manager for AC that simply installs the mods without all the round about stuff?

Never mind - I’ll continue putting them in manually.

Press NDA Release Day for the new Forza Motorsport!

I’ve seen a few preview/overviews. Positive for my interests, for the most part.

Pretty interesting video/interview regarding the new Forza Motorsport:

not to sound like the other nay-sayers on YT lately,
But Turn10 contributes to these 1 hr long videos talking about new tech, new physics, new lighting models w/ every version.

I was in the 1 hr showcases for Forza 2 and Forza 4, and even did reviews for sites that either dont exist any more, or aren’t the same (no names).

They promise revolutionary but we only ever get evolutionary.

I wasn’t sure how to ā€œreadā€ the opinions I was seeing, when I checked a few racing forums or YouTube that are a bit (or heavily, or solid) negative.

Me coming to Forza for the first time, I’m not sure how meaningful these ā€œnewā€ things might (or not) be coming from the perspective of players who have bought multiple prior releases.

And I guess in a way it doesn’t really matter, since whatever they do with FM is what I will be getting. Me wanting to enjoy this general style of game again (after GT3 back 20 years ago), it was either GT7 or FM.

I really like Project Cars 2 but 3 totally dropped the ball by trying to compete with Forza and GT.
I haven’t touched Forza since Forza 3 on my old 360!
