Star Citizen

I knew guys who sank literally thousands (AUD) into it, but they were flush with ‘deployment dollars’ and didn’t want to hear that real estate… heck, even beer and hookers if you just want to throw money away is a better idea!

Is this a game or a cult? That’s nuts.

This question has been asked many a times.

That reminds me that I have to try it out on my new PC.

I have had enough fun in the alphas and betas already to consider my 100 bucks or so money well spent, but I am curious what they added since I last played.

Hmmmmmmm…

Are we still supposed to get Squadron 42 next year?

Who knows? I pretty much don’t believe anything they say.

I remember reading an interview with Mark Hamill maybe around the time his last Star Wars came out. So what’s that? 10 years ago? He had done some voice acting for Squadron 42 and was singing its praises. When I read that I figured it was < a year from release. It seems we’ll be lucky to have it out in Mr. Hamill’s lifetime!

I mean I try and keep it updated, but my org leader is so busy with work that we don’t do anything, and I think he’s just biding his time until he considers taking it seriously. I haven’t touched it, but I did get an Avenger Titan, as that has like a special place in my heart for some reason.

Hey Guys, About a week ago today 12-21-2025, Star Citizen released a PTU with VR, so I decided to give it a whirl. I am still learning how to fly with mouse and keyboard but getting better now..

I am having some issues but blame it mostly on the game itself and it seems to be poorly optimised worse then DCS. Now I have a friend who swears by the game and another who thinks it is a scam..

I was wondering to someone who is not biased towards the game their thoughts on this game?? is it a scam money laundering scheme or a serious project that deserves some attention..

I did run better in he PTU I am currently just trying the live version but 2 times in a row my PC locked up and rebooted one was a hard reboot the other rebooted itself.. now I dont think it was heat related or anything I run a tight ship and am constantly monitoring things but I had fpsVRE Running but did not note the last temp reading before the Crash..

I was just wondering if any of you guys tried SC in VR and what was your results perfomance wise??

Thnx

I haven’t tried it in VR yet, that’s another thing on the (way too long) list.

I am running with an older PC and a 3080ti. With DLSS and the Medium preset it runs as if I accidentally have two instances of the game going at the same time. Even in 2D it struggles. The ability to instantly anytime switch between 2D and VR is a great feature. But alas, for me, the game is unplayable.

HOWEVER, the whole reason I came back to SC was because I watched a friend stream a session on Discord. It was stunning. He loved the VR implementation. For him the game ran like butter. He’s a fan of Elite Dangerous and all the combat sims we frequent here. SC for him is just about perfect.

in conclusion, if you have the hardware, SC is reportedly pretty awesome.

No, it’s not a scam.

There’s a product and there’s actual developers deep in it…

What it is : awfully, grossly mismanaged. By a guy on the commander chair that revels in no oversight from a publisher and has no issues with this half disaster going on in development until the heat death of the universe. He is not trying to con anyone, he just doesn’t have any problem with this state of things going on indefinitely.

So in the end it even might be completely released and on paper tick off every box he promised - while running 30 years in development and 3 times the GDP of a middle sized nation. And still poorly optimized.

Okay SC is sitting at roughly $900 million in development costs. The F-35 per unit cost is under 100 million these days. If we just all took the same amount of money we spent on SC, and went to LockMartin…

I was a very early member of the sucker group. Those of us who entered adult/PC-hood when Wing Commander came out would probably give Chris Roberts our firstborn. And some practically did.

Looks like I was living under a rock for the last 10 years.

Why should I buy one of those?
