The “DCS 2025 and beyond” hype thread

 Good one!

Options are a good thing.

I don’t mind if DCS adds WarThunder esque stuff as long as they keep (and maintain) the full-fidelity side of it. I just won’t buy the WT stuff.

I’m hip. Totally agree.

They’ve said in the past they wont:

A) Do “it” without correct, public, data, and
B) Do it without making “it” as true/factual as is specified in A.

But they don’t, and never will, have item A. Exactly.

So invent something (“DCS EW”) and to heck with B. As long as it is based on known (not super-double-secret) physics. They have the talent for this (I certainly don’t).

Those that don’t understand the need for this particular compromise, well, I guess there’s no satisfying them.

Seems that similar issues infest missile performance/flight model posts/threads online too. The FM is a compromise. A really good one IMO.

Perfection is the enemy of good…good enough.

Anyway…

Same. Hopefully??? enough people would buy WT-like stuff to allow them to keep going with the finicky bits some of us like. Not a bad plan I guess.

It is the 33rd FW, but not in Eglin AFB. I guessed Germany too, but definitely not Bitburg or Ramstein. On the other hand, this has to be Tempelhof. Berlin confirmed. Cold War era, by the looks of those Lufthansa B727.

And hopefully since they’re clearly relaxing the resources they need to make something full-fidelity, we can finally see some more warbirds to fill in the gaps, like a G6, more IJA/IJN assets, and of course more Redfor jets.

I hope so too.

I do wonder about the Redfor jets… certain countries have laws about on one hand, making the armed forces look bad, but on the other, distributing information about weapons systems…

But it does free them up to do a lot of Pacific-theater relevant systems, yes :+1:

I do wonder if they have a military contract for the f35, like they did with the a10 and we are getting the civilianised version of said plane …otherwise it doesn’t really make sense with the rest of the aircraft mostly being from around the early 2000s

Which I’m fine with, and we could soon have my dream-sim with all the teen-series fighters well represented in it!

Sure there was TK’s various Strike Fighters games, but to me the last time we had this so well presented was Jane’s Fighters Anthology…

Soesterberg perhaps? It had a detachment of the boys from Bitburg.

The big arming apron doesn’t seem to match Soesterberg from the aerial photos I can access, but I could be wrong?

RAF Gatow maybe? The apron orientation looks wrong though?

My take
-Bit Disappointed Not much WWII PTO in video
*might not mean a whole lot but I really thought this would be the headliner of this yrs video.

  • No Razbam
*obviously the situation has not been resolved and might have gotten worse.

-The Hun,Fulcrum

  • Super Excited for these Two…Will make my DCS 2025 yr if we see them release EA

-F-35A
*W O W …Didn’t see that coming at all…would of bet the house we’d see a SuperHornet or a Later Block 2 seat Viper Before a JSF…still…very happy to see it will come to DCS,and probably more excited we might see them doing a B or C variant.

My concerns about the F-35 aside, the Hun, EF, and Fulcrum are EAGER acquisitions by me.

Yes that’s Tempelhof. They undermodelled “Straße des 17. Juni” though. It’s way bigger and actually straight

And yes, I’m nitpicking. For DCS it’s a fair representation. It’s not really useful to model the city in more detail.

F-35, I am actually meh! about that. Sure, it is a (potential) game changer as a weapon system, but I’m not convinced it is a ‘pilot’s’ aircraft. Certainly not a close in dogfighter like the Viper?

I am however kinda looking forward to the EF… Coupled with the Kola map

It’s Ugra, the people who did Normandy and Syria. It’s gonna be awesome (in the end)

Yep, Berlin does look really good. Although I don’t live there of course…

They also showed Schönefeld as it was before at least 1997 but my guess would be just before the fall of the wall, Berliner Dom, the Rotes Rathaus.
As for the West German airbase - I have found a website that lists military airbases in West Germany but so far I have not been able to find one that matches.
