The Mandalorian TV show [spoilers]

That was very enjoyable to me as well…along with the music. I was hoping those were actual pre-filming storyboards that they worked off of, but they had such similarity to the episodes that I’m not sure that that was the case.

Probably my favorite part of the whole series was those two Stormtroopers just taking random pot shots at that can or whatever and missing every time.

I read that those two are also comedians btw. (Can’t remember the names though)
High comedian density in the series.

There were other nods to the “stormtroopers have bad aim” trope as well, such as the one when Bill Burr’s character nearly blew up when the Mandalorian said that “being a sniper for the Empire doesn’t say much” and insisted that he hadn’t been a stormtrooper.

To me that’s a bit of a weakness of the series though.
They did the right thing for the AT-ST (re-establishing it as a real threat instead of a joke like Ep6) and I had hoped they would do the same for the stormtroopers. Instead they made them a running gag again, probably even more than the other movies did since they explicitly put the fact that they can’t aim into the spotlights so to speak. IMO that’s kinda sad.

Seeing those red “eyes” coming out of the forest was pretty epic…

Interesting making off documentary.

Just like the Disneyland/DisneyWorld Millenium Falcon ride, they used the Unreal Engine and very large LED screens to make virtual physical sets. Interesting stuff and probably much nicer for the actors than plain greenscreen.

Wow just saw the last episode of series 2 - didn’t expect that ending…or who was showing up…or to feel like a kid again…best Star Wars since the original 4-6 trilogy!

If only the recent films (1 -3 and 7 - 9 ) were a 10th as good as this TV series.

Dude! Totally!

Also, you saw the post credits?!

CRAZY!

Never usually watch end credits but this series has Art stills and amazing music…however this episode had black credits so I nearly didn’t but luckily I did stay on for that extra bonus scene.

The whole episode was fantastic but the ending pushed it to 11 for me.

Not a fan of Deus ex machinas but it was nicely done.

All in all I am pretty happy with the series so far, and how it ties together loose ends of both the old and the new Star Wars stuff.

I thought it was a pretty good finale and enjoyed season 2 a lot.

I was watching the black robed, black gloved Jedi mash those droids and sat there cycling through who it could be. Hmm, Obi-won maybe (hang on, he’s old plus dead at this point), but no beard under that hood. Mace Windu ‘somehow he has returned ageless’ but wrong light sabre color. Perhaps that ginger haired guy from Fallen Order, but no idea if that time fits? Maybe Sabine from the Clone Wars, but it looks like a guy. Oh yeah, CGI Luke then…

Not a huge fan of the uncanny valley de-aged faces still though. I would be ok if they just cast someone and they said ‘I am Luke Skywalker’. It’s how acting works, don’t fight it.

I think they did all they could do with the Grogo (sp?) story arc and good time to move on, so interested to see what they do next. With the Ashoka TV series, plus the ‘Book of Bobba Fett’ I wonder if it’s going to be like those 60’s sitcoms where they do cross-over visits - The Gang Goes to Tatooine Again etc.

I have just finished season one and I am entertained by the series, but I do admit that the whole franchise is dead to me.

When Disney threw away the Expanded Universe they killed My safe haven. Now it feels like a very distant relative pretending to be Star Wars and it is just not the same.

I am close to having everything written of the EU whether it be novels, games materials, comics or any other materials including the games.

My favourites are the Rouge Squadron novels and comics and those with the people from the squadron.

I find it very ironic that Disney threw away the EU, reasoning that it was to difficult to make stories that fit in to it.

Buxxxxit!!!

I call it laziness and lack of imagination.

The really ironic bit is that they then turn the comics over to Marvel, who gave us the stories that Dark Horse had the most difficulties fitting into the EU timeline if it was possible at all.

Come on! Jaxxon! Hoojibs! Hiromi!

When Dark Horse made the 7 book collection of the old Marvel stories, I was very surprised to discover that there where a fairly large number of the stories deemed not good enough by the Danish publisher, so we newer saw them. I understand it for the quality on some them are really rubbish. Then there are the Wild Space Omnibus, which looks like it is a collection of stories that Dark Horse felt was so bad that they couldn’t include them in the Marvel collection.

Marvel and DC do reboots as they normally run stories about people in a roughly 20 to 40 year period of life.

Well Star Wars had absolutely no need for a Reboot.
We have a EU timeframe of more than 6000 years and Dark Horse have proved beyond any doubts, that it is possible to create characters and stories that can carry themselves without any direct tieins to the movies, as long as they are kept within the framework and fits into the timeline.

Sorry about the rant, but I am not to happy about Disney killing of the very dear and close friend that I grew up with. What I am most sad about are all of the EU stories that newer will be told now.

Yep, saw them.

Now that we are on the real life gamers rigs, it looks to me that Moff Gideon’s TIE controls are a TM Warthog set. Except for when we have his eyeview of the screen. Then it looks like a different set of controls.

Happy Simming And May The Force Be With You!

Finally got to see the last episode tonight…we were working through them every few days. When I saw that X-Wing I knew almost right away…and then the robed figure…I could feel a lump in my throat. I guess Star Wars is just so tied to memories of my youth that some things really strike me in an emotional way. I was just like…“Let’s goooooo!!” Awesome ending to the series.

I will admit I had tears in my eyes…
That was just beautiful!
And I even called it when Ashoka told Mando to put Grogu on the stone. If he reaches out, maybe a Jedi will sense his presence.

I halfway expected one of the Jedi from the Rebels show.
Not a huge fan of the CGI dude but the scene was fine (other than being deus ex machina).

Just Finished season 2. Sat on the sofa pretending my eyes aren’t leaking. Been staying away from this thread so I didn’t get anything spoilt.
I struggled as soon as I saw luke’s X wing. Held it together when the green saber lit. Nearly broke when Mando took his helmet off and then lost it totally when R2 rolled out.

Star Wars just breaks me. I love it so so much. I will defend it to the end of time. I know its problems. I know its flaws and I am not interested. It is amazing and its getting better and better.
Need to go wipe my eyes casually so my wife doesn’t see…
