Yes, I wish you’d stop it with all these posts. You’re making me want to jump through the ARMA Mod hoops again.

Just hanging on….

@komemiute and I just had a productive run. We set off in a pickup with a loot crate to go see what kind of trouble we could stir up, and left camp headed toward Negades. Undercover with just handguns, with the intent to steal weapons from sleeping policemen.

Entering Negades, the place seemed deserted. I found what I thought was a blue square on the map to mark a police station, but all we found was a shed with a blue tarp awning. Not sure what was going on there, but then we walked back to mainstreet, where I was promptly shot in the head by an overeager policeman.

This left komemiute to fend for himself, attempting to revive me while in a fierce fight against 5-6 policemen aggressively rushing him. He valiantly fought down to the last bullet (literally!) and then resorted to throwing grenades while I bled out before he could successfully provide medical aid. Eventually he too was killed. The battle was lost but the war rages on…

Our second attempt played out very similarly, with us driving right into a military foot patrol, bringing our lousy pistols to bear, and me once again getting shot in the head.

The third time went back loaded for bear. My partner in crime insisted I take a helmet this time, since getting shot in the head is a strange hobby to have. :joy: This time we decided to drive a supply truck up to Agios Kostantinos loaded with food for the civilian population there, and on the way we made a sweep through Negades, inserted ourselves onto the dirt road to the north east and working our way on foot, armed with submachineguns. Just as we reached the mainstreet, an up-gunned offroad sped past. I unloaded my subgun into the gunner on the .50, but couldn’t tell if I hit him. Luckily he wasn’t able to bring the machinegun to bear before the truck turned the corner, blocking our sightline and temporarily protecting us from being ballistically converted to mincemeat.

We fled into the town, watching our back for the inevitable return. We quickly had more pressing problems, as local police had been scrambled and began pushing on us from the west. We effectively dispatched the police garrison, and then the truck returned, minus the gunner (lucky for us!). This gifted us with some real firepower for the moment. Then came a discussion on our next steps, whether to RTB while we were ahead (loaded with loot, including body armor, ammo, and a couple long rifles), or whether to push all our chips forward and “Go for broke”.

Of course, you can guess what we did. Komemiute put John Moses Browning’s gift to the western world to good use on the drive for Agios Kostantinos with the food supply. There we encountered minimal resistance from local police units, which were easily dealt with. Once the objective was completed we skedaddled back to camp, drunk on the triumph of the Professionals and the resistance over the forces of law and order (and, uh, tyranny!).

It was awesome stuff, best fun I’ve had in Arma in a long time. Like I told Komemiute, I haven’t played Vanilla in years, and only a little Antistasi. Being the underdog, fighting with what you can find, and being outmatched, in concert with friends breathes new life into the game.

@WarPig has definitely the gift of narration! He even manage to make me look half competent! :star_struck: Entirely too kind…

In the end we really managed to recoup the entire ammunition spent and a whole lot more!

Honestly this guy has all the great trait of a true Professional! I hereby, and devoid of any form of power or title, grant @WarPig the title of Professional, earned in blood, lead, and honor on the battlefield!

But yeah I share the same feeling, the cooperative nature of this mod makes for some truly amazing moments!

fantastic write up … and as you say this mod brings a whole new life to arma, the thought of being the underdog and having to really plan each use of a weapon system, when you have such limited resources, and the final great thing is the persistence, before in arma you just did a mission, nothing carried through to the next one. now it feels like a real struggle.

One of the best parts is you don’t need a dozen+ mods. Part of me wants to be able to use SOG weapons, or play WWII antistasi with the SPE:1944 DLC but it’s not worth it, because you split the (already niche) playerbase. This way, the only mod you need is Antistasi, and the rest of the reccomended modlist are just QOL stuff that doesn’t really matter.

Seriously, if you’re on the fence, jump in when someone else here is on. It’s scary, hilarious, and great fun.

Would anybody here be up for some more later today?

I am on at the moment … trudging towards the resource site in the north with some hand grenades and an idea or two

Daddy things to do…

Goddamn it. Downloading Arma3. Again.

So when I type in “antistasi” in the steam workshop, I get 327 hits. Which one do I need?

If you look right below this post, there’s the mod list you can download and import easily, if it helps.

Also the server IP, and pw for anyone that didn’t see it already.

So, good morning Mudspikers and Professionals!

Operation Sitting Duck was a complete success - in the typical Professional way.
That is - literally nothing like planned but… the victory tastes the same, no matter what spoon you use to enjoy it. :love_you_gesture::rofl:

More on this later.

As of now the important part is, we control Agios Konstantinos, which means there’s no more corrupt government police officers AND we tore apart (literally to the bone) two checkpoints along the north road to a resource site.

I’m preparing another plan, but it will take a bit.
And now the latest news from the front…

HQ: in the effort of getting our passage around the map simpler several checkpoints were destroyed. This did affect the resources in our base, we went from over 1000€ in liquid cash to less than 500.

A little care must be considered when buying material, and possibly, try to recover most of what is lost.
We are not in any danger but it’s something to keep in mind.

A secondary point is, we might start to think about bolstering the HQ defenses.
We dismounted a nice .50cal, it would be nice to place it so it has a bit of a field of fire in case of an enemy attack - just a thought

LOSSES: our last action of the previous night had us a bit over confident ( a good trait of every respected Professional!) and the Technical pickup we acquired was lost.
Nothing of dramatic value, we will get another, I’m sure… But if anything it shows that we shouldn’t yet consider attacking frontally any enemy strong point.
They have massive amount of arms and vast numbers. We simply cannot go toe-to-toe with any of them.

NEXT STEPS : I’d like to do something to improve again the standing of the population in Agios K. as I’m afraid they could soon flip again. As far as I know we could set up our checkpoints or hire non-governmental police.
I definitely have to read the manual better, for this.

Feel free to add anything or report of your actions!
