Don’t forget to garrison the resource site with some AI! And Congrats on the capture. Factory next

might be able to do that with 40mm grenades, without doing too much damage, hopefully the crew will bail

we really are starting to need some fire support, how do we get manned, (not AI) mortars

Unfortunately the Gorgon ate the garrison, and me with it. Firing 40MM at its wheels just ticked it off.

The funny part is there was a Carl Gustav (can’t remember what they’re called in Arma) MAAWS 84MM lying right next to me that I didn’t see until I looked at the screenshot. :joy:

Agreed. I recruited my brother who was over for labor day to log on tonight and the two of us successfully executed an ambush on a payroll truck coming from Oreokastro to the resource site. Gained about $6K from it, and I spent my cut on a mortar pack+tripod (buy from the garage) which is now floating around in the armory somewhere. I made the executive decision to conduct some troop training, and we have about $8K of that funny european money left.

I did some reading on employment of mortars, and agree that they probably should be manned, and preferably truck mounted. There’s a way to strap one to a flatbed I believe.

Counter Battery Fire
Every time you fire a mortar, 2 “chance” points are added to a pool and a random number is rolled between 1 and 100. If the random number is less than your chance points, then your location is revealed. This may result in a QRF or counter battery fire from the enemy. The “chance” points pool is specific to each time you fire a mortar round.
Important Notes
If you move more than 300 meters away from where your previous mortar round was fired from, the “chance” points reset to 0 for the next shot.
The counter battery fire mechanic applies to firing artillery as well as mortars.

We’re also quickly going to need a source of ammo for vehicles/static weapons. Nabbing an ammo truck should be a high priority.

i like your thinking there

The engineer role can breach vehicles with some explosives, afaik this will kill the crew. I believe in antistasi the crew is locked in the vehicle, so they won’t disembark even when immobilized.

Ok, I might have had an idea for an articulated mission that requires at least 4 humans BUT could prove something epic, that truly would deserve to be recorded, somehow, for an explosive AAR.

The name of this mission is Rapid Mustang and its aim is to simultaneously take down the radio tower north of the HQ, conquer the Resource point, and inflict a tough blow to the Quick Reaction Force, ideally putting out of commission at least one Helicopter and the APC.

I will try to write up my idea and see who would be in.
ETA - this upcoming weekend.

ROFL! I know right?!

This has the potential to be a story to tell (because it went smoothly) or… a story to tell (because it went oh so flipping wrong)

I can almost hear it “So… No s#!t, there I was with these three other absolute madmen…”

My brother would probably be up to join in again. He’s not a mudspiker (that I know of), but he’s a DCS/IL2 VR degenerate who would fit in well here. And he was good help stealing liberating the cash truck. Just don’t let him drive. :joy: That might bolster our #'s.

OMFG! @tempusmurphy just pulled off the most insane SAS-like operation I’ve EVER seen in unscripted gaming history!

Completely torn down the AAF tower southwest of Kore, singlehandedly… With explosives!

I’ll let him the honor of describing the action…

Myself and @komemiute, just pulled off a bit of an epic… the outpost tower just outside Kore, is now no more :sunglasses:
first @komemiute set up with a rpg to the north of the tower, and I crawled up to the base of it (night does wonders for blinding the AI) unfortunately there was no hole in the base wall for me to get in, so i used the explosive i had to make one, @komemiute did a complete number on the bases Helicopter and stuck a rocket into the tower. I blew the IED hoping to take out the tower, but alas it just removed the wall. I managed to get away clean and @komemiute picked me up… he went back to his overwatch position and I headed back to HQ for more explosives.

After some dodgy driving I got back to the vicinity of the tower and started making my way back to the bases wall, crawling and crouch running from bush to bush, until i reached the base of the wall.
@komemiute fired off a couple of rockets at both the radio tower and the base, with this diversion I crawled inside through the hole we made and planted two large IED on the two of the legs of the tower.
and made my escape

it made a wonderfull boom and the tower fell and we got away clean

I’ve been otherwise engaged since this was mentioned in the antistasi thread and forgot about it - I’ll see if I can get on.
