TM, Virpil, WW & MOZA Mounts in 2024/25

You are going to have to get that base lower, or you will end up with a wrist injury!

Looking a little closer, it seems for now there’s three players in this space:

Choices choices.

Oh No, this must be Floor mounted. No way im i flying like that. My wrist will be the least of it. Think of my top grain particle board desk!
I regret ordering the Moza mount.

Don’t regret buying it… it’s a very neat device. It does have this one limitation though. You created a solution for your rudder pedals… I’m sure you will come up with something equally effective for the AB9.

First thing, you can probably lose the extension if you keep it desk mounted… or keep it if you build some kind of small platform that sits on the floor. And then there is always that SimFab pit option

Ok, Your Post got my motivation back up. I did some simple measuring. In reality I have to get the thing about 6 inches or 15.2 milli-euro-wops off the floor. That is not much. I can build of buy something simple. The important thing now is to figure out how to make it quickly swapable. This weekend I swapped out my stick and throttle twice. I started out with T-50(Base and Stick) and Ka-50 collective, went to the Orion throttle and F-16EX, then changed back. I got this down to a few minutes now.

And the winner is Virpil. I don’t like this. I prefer to compare Apples with Apples but… i do not have WinWing’s Cam accessories.
Using Avia No Center cam and lowered spring pressure the Virpil is the best at controlling the Cayuse. The other big change was the Mongoose stick. Its made of plastic. That makes for a much lighter feel. Its tall too. These both translate into better control. I can hover much easier. I find myself not fighting the stick and not overcorrecting.
It has taken me too long to realize how useful a cam set could be.
Now i will get the WinWing set (Should be included WINWING!!!) The WinWing stick is already very light aluminum. It is a fine setup.
Parting thought… WinWing sticks & bases don’t play nice with TM stuff so be aware that you are closing the door on that ecosystem once you go with that system. But I do like them so much.

Winwing’s Cyber Taurus FFB base is rumored to be under $450 USD when it comes out within (supposedly) a month or two.
If so, I will definitely be getting it. Just need to figure out how to mount it. I have the Monstertech stick and throttle mounts on my chair so hopefully they will make a plate for my stick mount and I can use it (ie I hope it’s not too heavy, but the mount is heavy duty AL so I think it should be ok).

Suddenly I am flying again with WinWing’s F-16EX and of course their Orion Throttle and Ka-50 Throttle. To be quite honest, this combination is awesome. I have not gone back to the Virpil stick in a week. Should I go back, I will be honest, its hard to say one is better than the other… They are just great bits of kit.
To compare with cars, its like comparing a Honda to a Toyota… They are both that good. I like that Look and feel of the new WinWing, but I am sure Virpil will catch up. Bases are both outstanding. Next week I should have my cams kit for the WW. I will test that out.
Congrats on the new base. I had no idea about the Taurus FFB. Had I known, I would have waited. Im still struggling to mount the AB-9 but that has more to do with lack of motivation and tools.

Ok! I am disappointed… :unamused: The OH-58D, I cant the vibration function.
I cant call it Force Feedback, I just cant. There is another worry. When using FFB in DCS the OH-58 will not recenter. Guess that is reserved for real FFB. The OH-6A I understand… But Get in the Huey and you get a very satisfying “Bzzzz, bzzz” from the flying and the guns. Flying the F-4 and I get the vibes coming through the throttle too. Very good. At any rate, I hope this got fixed today or at a patch in the near future.

Enter the Moza. Im no carpenter, but it works. I will raise it. It needs a longer extension.
Im underwelmed. I know im missing something. I get no engine vibration. The stick gives a nice clunk when i trim. It stays where i put it. Flies smoothly… but no rumble, nothing.

Jumping on this bandwagon- if I just needed a sturdy mount for my Warthog sticktop?
Trying to spend less than 50 EUR.

HAHAHAHAH You know what? I’d do that even if I came back home without a Thrustmaster mount.

Can I make the Lactose Free lasagne?

I got sick of watching the AB-9 sitting on the shelf. I had this fear that the shaking and weight would be too much for wood. I did not even use Oak. I used Poplar. Its fine. It supports the weight fine. Most of it is half inch wood suported by some 2x2 in braces. There are no concerns about it tipping or moving… for now. I have about 50 usd in it so far. Really, I should have gotten a “Wheel Stand Pro”. It would have had to be modified as well… But lets see how it goes.

You mean this? It looks pretty cool actually! But I need a desk mount to move my sticktop from the side to a centered position

from up here the carpentry doesn’t look half bad either. I mean, it’s fit for purpose, right?

That box had an ugly side and an uglier side. In my rush I put the uglier side facing me. Lets call this V1… I have resolved some ergo questions and its ok for now. Waiting on the longer (100mm) extension and the software to work right. Hope it does not shake the box to bits…

I think some people said with longer extension, the torque is not strong enough. How is it now with your current extension?

Trying it this afternoon with the engine rumble turned way up it is strong enough to make your wrist hurt after a short flight. That is with a 10cm extension.

After watching some videos I realize I haven’t configured my game path. This may be the culprit to my problem.
