I think vorpX is meant to work this way. Consider this: SteamVR SS has no impact on vorpX since vorpX takes whatever the game renders on the screen, does its magic, and sends it to the HMD in the resolution that is specified in the game. So SS in vorpX is achieved by higher game resolution (I am running vorpX usually on 3200x2400 which exceeds my monitor’s native res). As a result, trying to reduce 2D render quality would negatively impact your VR quality.
I found that holding alt+tab allows the mouse cursor to be seen.
I think that is the way to go. Please let me know your positional tracking curves settings once you hit the sweet spot Mine feels still a bit off.
How do I know? I am wrapped completely in a cockpit as if I am sitting in it and all of the flight and engine controls look 3D. An illusion? Maybe. Will check it again tonight.
This makes sense. Later, I was flying Battle of Bodenplatte and noticed that my monitor is displaying right and left image simultaneously with my Reverb. I usually fly CoD graphic settings on High, but wonder if I should change those to Medium and how it affects the image in the Reverb?
Nice tip! Will give that a go.
I assume that you mean curves in OpenTrack? No, haven’t yet and yes it does seem a bit slow. Will tinker and report back.
So I gave this a quick test tonight. vorpX was not able to hook to the game if I launched it via the desktop icon - that launches to a ROF settings launcher, which vorpX cannot hook to. Going into:
Rise of Flight > bin_game > release
…and running ROF.exe directly launches and vorpX attaches just fine. It starts in Immersive Screen Mode or whatever it is called, but the DEL key takes it to the menu where I can go full VR. Again, you have to use OpenTrack for the headtracking. I have all the settings maxed out in ROF and I would say this might be one sim where I might need to knock back a setting or two because it wasn’t glass smooth. Also, the widest field of view I could get in game was not wide enough…I’d need to see if there is an INI or CFG or something that can set it even further.
Does that have 6DOF head movement?
One of the coolest things to do in Flying Circus is to lean out of the cockpit, and look down, or look under the upper wing…
I did find a game that doesn’t work well with vorpX - Mudrunner!
It does have some user profiles to apply - but they look pretty janky. The biggest problem is that the cockpit view doesn’t allow for TrackIR, thus it also doesn’t allow for OpenTrack. You could probably cobble together a mouse-view type of thing…but I think it would not work really well.
Hey, is that @Victork2 in the cab? He looks so much happier being on the road!
Wow…Firewatch with vorpX is awesome. The landscapes are amazing, the sounds are great, and it must automatically use mouse-look because it is seamless.
I have not played Firewatch…been in my Steam library for years, but the music and story just leading up to the first day in the tower are impressively poignant. I’m hooked. (No spoilers please!) These through the lens shots have no spoilers…
FWIW, I spent some time trying to get Falcon BMS 4.34 running with vorpX, but no joy. I created a profile by copying the one I made for CoD Blitz and vorpX attempts to latch it. But you get the “taking a long time” message. @BeachAV8R did you copy a profile for 4.33, or just build one on the fly?
No puke factor for me since you can use your head a lot. My VR legs are pretty solid now too…so YMMV. I need to go try Aircar again just to see how puke-prone I might still be…
I think that you can export it from your list of profiles. I hope that we can get 4.34 up, because it sure looks good in 2D. I’ve been jumping back and forth between it and the DCS Viper lately.
