That’s some big “PLOT” right there…

Was changing out my Flightsim desk and discovered this sticker on the side of my computer:

As far as I can tell I’m good to go with HW to support the RIFT-S. Or not?

Depends…Aerofly , Elite Dangerous , Vtol VR may run ok , though even Aerofly may stress the GPU . For DCS , X-plane , Prepared 3D you will be unhappy with the 1060 , 8gb ram , and the (presumed) lack of an SSD . The 1060 is hard-pressed to run a CV1 , requiring major concessions in settings for the latter 3 , and the extra pixels for a Rift S will stress it further yet , even accounting for the lower refresh rate .

I took my daughter to a waterpark recently, and found a VR headset cover!

A swim cap with a Batman sign, to cover the lenses from sunrays and dust!

I am a genius!

Yes, that you are  but not because of the batcover :stuck_out_tongue:

Ohhh…I don’t know…I think it is mostly the Batman cover…

These are the words from an officer and a gentleman who has shook his head in disbelief, at many comments from the audience during pilot briefings.

He has a lot of experience with airplane drivers, who think they are smart.

You better listen to him, because the Pentagon listens to him…or used to, anyway.

Now, if you were smart, you’d be selling them for $40 a pop on AmaBay under the brand name TrollSkinz™

10% discount if you buy a 4 pack.

So much for being a genious, huh?

This really happened. NAS Roosevelt Roads. 1987. VF-32 was there for a live fire missile shoot exercise, which went well. The brief was for the return transit flight - NAS RR to Homestead AFB (fuel) to NAS Oceana - all high altitude cruising.

The weather briefer notes - "The jet stream has moved farther south than normal.

Pilot, callsign “Tina” seriously comments - “Yeah, it was really windy at the beach yesterday.”

The last line in the novel/film “The Bridges at Toko Ri” apply.

We drove past Rosie Roads on our way to the ferry to Vieques (the ferry is in Ceiba). The old base looks pretty beat up now. I know the C-17s were using it to ferry in supplies after Maria hit though…

I was on a short vacation in Sweden and found VR covers in a sports store…
Ok, technically it’s a ski mask, or goggle, cover.
Yes, they sell ski stuff in swedish sports stores during the summer…
They’re called GoggleSoc’s and are used to cover your goggles from scratches. And to look cool at the after-ski bar, of course.

The soc works even better as a VR goggle cover.

Researching to make the VR year end plunge. Valve Index and HP Reverb (Pro?) look juicy. Not thrilled about the lighthouse thingies since all my VR would be parked in a chair, and I’m not even sure that will work with Meniers vertigo, but we’'l see.

2 questions for the knowlegable masses. Since DCS isn’t Steam-ized, will it work with the Valve Index? Can both units have the supplied audio cups removed so a proper gaming headset with a mic can be used. I do very little offline simming.

There is a VR group in Houston (ironically enough it is named HoustonVR). I’m going to their August meeting tonight where they are showing units and making presentations. Recon report if something interesting happens.

Some news. Linus just looked at the new Valve Index, but all stand up nuckles stuff which I have zero interest in.

Not sure about the audio cup, but it absolutely will work with DCS. If your rig can handle it, also a hearty recommendation to the reverb, as it is closer to a “2.0” experience in regards to resolution. That’s pretty key for DCS.

ED forums have lengthy threads on both headsets. Here is the Index one. Reverb one in the same subforum.

Thanks guys.

As mentioned, last night was the August Houston VR group meeting and the Valve Index was featured and we got to do hands on (face on) with it in some VR apps. It’s impressive and while they didn’t have any flight or racing sims, what they did have provided enough that it and the HP Reverb are my two candidiates at this time. I was able to view with it set on 90Hz and 144Hz via the demo unit’s 1080ti video card. The visual difference is there, but not as dramatic as I might have suspected. The 144Hz is not production and still in development, so it can only get better. I used the knuckles controllers, and while they’re cool for what they do, they don’t apply (that I can see) in the flight or driving sims world. One huge surprise was the audio. My hearing is… kinda still there… but the audio cups that sit around an inch off the ears was fabulous. It sounds more like a premium theatre environment than a headset. If someone wants to go gaming headset with mic, that’s an option. But for many the built-in audio and mic will be just fine. One down side. That sucker is heavy and warm with the around the head padding. I would have liked less. The Linus Tech Tips video I linked to above addresses the around the head strap well.

How did you find the image difference between the two sets? (Reverb and Index)
