Hulloo chaps, have just started flying this properly for the first time since I bought it somewhere near the top of this thread - due to it being so awesome on the Valve Index, and now I actually finally feel comfortable using the virtual HOTAS with the Index controllers. For some reason, I could never get used to it with Touch.

It’s the only game so far in which I prefer ‘Knuckles’ over (original) Touch.
Lots of great info here and in your article, Chris.

Hey @Brix! That’s interesting about how the controllers feel better. I really hope that multiplayer gets added
I can’t wait to play this with a group of us

That would be fun, no doubt.

One issue, is not having a grip button like on Touch - so the grip or handle of the controller has to be continually squeezed to keep hold of the virtual HOTAS - and I no doubt squeeze it a little harder than I should - ends up with pretty sore fingers after a few flights. I do have this issue with other games that rely on squeezing, too, such as the HOTAS in No Man’s Sky.

Maybe should invest in this:

It just fell last night!

ProtubeVR continues to refine and develop the range for its modular weapon recognized as the best in virtual reality by many youtubbers VR.

After the famous ProsaberVR (for fans of Beat Saber & Star wars), and while continuing the development of the famous ForcetubeVR (which will be provided to the backers at Kickstarter price even if the goal was not reached), here is the arrival of the new kid: ProtasVR.

As a reminder, I must tell you what is already a Magcup. The Magcup is an improvement of the fixing of your controllers VR: the Magcup is magnetized and allows to simply unhook the controller of your protube, to launch a grenade for example, then to quickly put it back, to be able to use again your rifle assault (it must of course that the protube is equipped with magnetic media)

The ProtasVR takes the design of a HOTAS to make it a support for flying a ship. Like Protube ‘optimized’, ProtasVR has a magnetic support and can therefore accommodate your VR controller equipped with a Magcup.

If you do not have Magcups, you can add them to your order options, and even choose the color.

The ProtasVR is equipped with two Velcro strips that allow you to attach it to the armrest of your chair, whether you’re left-handed or right-handed, with ease!
For fans of NO MAN’S SKY or the excellent VTOL VR in particular!

The protasVR will come with a reusable sticker pad in addition to Velcro strips, to hang on the wall (see photo).

btw, I just read that multiplayer is definitely planned (it’s apparently stated on the store page), but may come much later in development.

Sounds cool

Just looked at the store page myself and it actually says ‘if all goes well’ so it was just the over-enthusiastic Steam commenters saying it was stated that it was definitely coming in future.
I should know better than to believe Steam comments without checking by now.

I was flying the F45 last night and doing a night mission and was really taken back to my old Microprose F19 stealth fighter days. I so thought that game was on point back then and this simulation gives me the same feeling. I have been playing flight sims all the way back to playing on my dads Apple II E with the dual floppy’s and swapping discs. Sims just keep getting better and this once is Aces in my book.

You have done a wonderful job here and as we said back in the Navy. Bravo Zulu!

Quick question:

Is there any discussion on how to be stealthy with the F45? In the old F117 there was if I recall a stealth bar that showed your level of thermal and radiated emissions and on some of these missions I am playing I am always detected. Just wondering if there are any discussions about being stealthy and where those discussions are being held.

Again great game and the Microprose nostalgic moments are priceless!

Been trying to live through the firefox mission (F-45) in the workshops and and getting the smack down put on me. Are there any tactics or discussions about how to use the stealth ability of this craft?

I remember playing the F-19 Stealth Fighter back in the day and there was a bar that showed thermal and radiated emissions so you could see how stealthy your plane was. Is there a flight envelope or a certain profile that needs to be flown to be as stealthy as possible?

F-19 was sooo much fun!

Welcome @PayneInTheAft. I totally love the handle. If you were a back-seater in your previous life it makes the name pure genius. If not, I will continue to pretend you were. I love VTOL but haven’t played it since the last few updates and have nothing to offer on tactics.

Welcome!

Yeah
me too. I wonder what that was all about. The graphics were other towrite home about the missions could be daunting
but there was something about skimming ver Eastern Europe in the middle of the night in the middle of WW III. I seem to recall a particular SAM set near Rostock that you had to be careful to avoid and “Dang, there’s that Rostock SAM! Jink right!”

Thanks for the welcome and I actually was a back seater. Was an Antisubmarine Warfare Operator (AW) on S3-A/B’s flying of the Enterprise in the mid to late 80’s.

Playing vtol vr kind of throws me back to my gaming days on the boat with my laptop (Commodore SX64) as I called it back then.

Kind of Miss that ole computer.

Cheers!

Yup, I loved the Persian gulf scenarios so much. Especially the night ones. FYI GOG has the predecessor of F19 called F117 Nighthawk Stealth Fighter

Uhm, actually- It’s the other way around.
F-19 was the first version- and effectively a PC conversion of the C64 masterpiece “Project Stealth Fighter”.

F117 was version 2.0 of F-19
