VTOL VR

It seems that MP is totally empty now. Or maybe I am running the wrong version.

I am hoping one of you guys can help me. When ever I press the right controller ā€˜menuā€™ button in order to keep grip of the flight stick, the game menu button comes up. Is this the button you are meant to use to keep a hold of the stick? I always thought it was. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as itā€™s extremely frustrating pausing the game and going to the menu each time I want to keep my hand stuck to the stick!

No, you would use the ā€žgripā€œ button for the stick and throttle grabbing.
You can hold it permanently or you just tap it shortly in proximity of the virtual Stick/throttle and it will stay

@Lennyman, if I were you Iā€™d choose a different controller profile in SteamVR. Just choose the most popular user made profile for whatever controllers youā€™re using.

This update enables support for custom multiplayer missions. You can now create multiplayer campaigns in the mission editor, and host lobbies with multiplayer missions from Steam Workshop!
There are also numerous bug fixes for multiplayer, existing missions, AI, etc.
The AH-94 has also been updated with some new HUD features and bug fixes.

General

  • Fixed: weapons mounted on the left side would always be selected first if switching away from and back to a weapon type
  • Fixed: Reload All wouldnā€™t reload used external fuel tanks
  • Updated Unity version to v2020.3.30f1

  • Disable debug camera in editors
  • Fixed: black screen if localization files fail to load (skip loading localization in this case)

  • Fixed: repairing engine would not set it to the current tilt until tilt is modified
  • Fixed: tilt indicator didnā€™t work if left engine was destroyed
  • Fixed: no tilt audio if left engine is destroyed

F/A-26B

  • Fixed: full range radar sweep pings would still occur when in boresight mode
  • Fixed: after quickload, right engine had no afterburner effect until throttle moves
  • Fixed: sometimes unable to hard lock a softlocked contact

F-45A

  • Fixed: internal weapons could be selected first when switching to a weapon type even if external weapons were still available
  • Fixed: players list scroll buttons used wrong controller button

Multiplayer

  • Added support for Steam Workshop campaigns
  • Fixed another crash for non-AH-94 owners in missions where AH-94 is present
  • Fixed: error when attempting to create a private lobby after a previous network routine crash
  • Fixed: spawned in wrong vehicle if multiplayer spawns were placed out of order
  • Fixed: network crash when thereā€™s a kick/ban vote
  • Fixed: briefing controller did not appear to sit at lectern for new player joining
  • Fixed: sometimes RWR ping would incorrectly come from a fired missile instead of the aircraft

  • Added team score to scoreboard (mission dependent)
  • Briefing room voice chat volume is persistent
  • Fixed: could see dead unit icon in nav map when joining late
  • Fixed: slots could be interacted when not visible in list in briefing room menu
  • Fixed: could still spawn with gear up on certain built-in MP missions
  • Fixed: AI aircraft engine throttle and heat was still not synced for clients
  • Fixed: sometimes, AI aircraft would be killed when a client joins

I finally got hold of this- and OMFG! This simulation is brilliant!

I launched it for a quick test- managed to cold start the helo without issues (easy peasy!)- and took off my VR headset an hour and a half later! :rofl: LOVE IT

More coherent thoughts later tomorrowā€¦ but what a game, guys, what a game!
Makes me think of what Microprose would have done if it was borne these days.

Faux-complex, deep, engaging, easy to pick but hard to master, immersive and FUN FUN FUN!

Harkening back to the (modern sims lack the joy of the classics) discussion of a few days ago, I got bored really quick with the helicopter. What content there was could be played through in a couple of hours. And multiplayer was filled either with asshats or with players who had the three available missions memorized down to every move. By now there is probably some enjoyable 3rd party content with depth. But the aging kid in me wishes it was all there in the box.

quick question to anyone who already owns itā€¦ do you have to use the VR controlers or can i use my standard hotas

Vr cpntrols only but you CAN use your rudder pedals. Which i do, as twist rudder makes my teeth itch

Likewise, I removed the stick twist and rather use the controller thumb stick!

The controller controls in VTOL VR is the most brilliant part of it! :grin:
