My “first impressions” of the AH-94…sorry I’m not a content creator. My videos are like my long-format articles. Long and boring.
No worries Chris, if you jump on this evening then give me a shout. I should be around until about 8pm your time. I could also do pretty much any time tomorrow during the day.
I just watched your video… neat stuff. I definitely recommend using your rudder pedals if you can. I moved mine a little bit out from my desk so that I can sit farther back. It gives me enough room to move my hands around the cockpit(s) without bashing into things.
lol. with the SAS rotary, “I have no idea what that knob is” but I’m going to fiddle with it anyway…
Is VTOL VR hand controllers only, or can it be set up with HOTAS input?
The only traditional controller you can use is your rudder pedals. The sim/game is designed from the ground up to use vr controllers… and it works brilliantly once you get used to it.
C’mon - it’s what I do in all the planes I fly for a living.
CVR: “What does this button do…”
Narrator: “And this was the beginning of the chain of events…”
If anyone will be around Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon CST, I might be able to join and you can have the enjoyment of watching me slam into the landscape repeatedly while trying to land in VTOL mode.
I might be able to do Wednesday afternoon…
I wouldn’t mind jumping back to this. I’m vanilla though. Would that matter for multiplayer?
“Vanilla” meaning mod-less? If so, yes! In fact you can crew any machine you don’t own in multiplayer! At least I think I read that somewhere.
I meant I’ve not got any dlc just the base game. But sounds like i can anyway
Yes from everything I’ve read, DLC’s aren’t required unless you’re trying to fly them. Also the T-55 “trainer” can be dual crewed so long as one person has the DLC per the description. I’d hazard that since that is written out as a feature of the T-55, the other 2 probably require you to have the DLC to crew it.
One great thing about the DLC’s is that if you do decide to buy them, they are pretty inexpensive.
Anyone interested in giving it a try later today?
In London atm but can’t wait to fly with friends!
Perhaps I am just an idiot, but for the life of me I can’t get a GBU-39 to exit the plane from the internal bays on the F-45. Master arm is on, GBU-39 is selected, target is designated via GPS. If I pull the trigger I hear what I believe to be the bay opening, but I can’t seem to find the magic next button to press to get the bomb out of the rack. I’m sure it’s something simple, but it is eluding me (also only having 3.5 hours of sleep today might have something to do with it).
I think you pull the trigger to open the bay doors, and then the weapon select button on the same controller, while the trigger is still depressed.
I could be wrong though.
That’s it. Any weapon that has a seeker that locks onto something is a 2-action process: trigger uncages the seeker onto the target and the weapon selected releases the weapon.
I figured out my issue, in my sleep deprived state yesterday I was treating the bomb bay door trigger as a toggle. So I was tapping it, and then trying to launch. Press and hold solved the issue, thanks!
The depth of systems and nuance in VTOL VR is pretty cool. It’s a good training tool for introducing someone to more complex weapons and aircraft systems, and a vast majority of it transfers to DCS.
I wish there was a more accessible in-game manual or -pedia that described exactly how to use each weapon system; there’s quite a few I haven’t the clue what the envelope or employment techniques are.
I’m free this afternoon if anyone is interested in trying some co-op.
I just hosted a free flight private session. I’m going to do some AAR practice in there for awhile, just in case anyone wants to join. The password to enter is mudspike (all lower case).
