VTOL VR

I’ll hope on now if you are still there.

I’m still there. :+1:

I could hear you. You can’t hear me i think.

Paul. I am going yo log out and back in

Yes, I’m not hearing you. Do you have your mic in Steam settings set to ‘open’?

Darn! Turns out that the “S-Cam” only controls what is displayed on the monitor. 3rd party recording is required.

Thanks for setting that up Paul. Fun flight! We flew as a crew to the tanker to top off (Paul flew). Then landed. After a few minutes my HUD began to scoot around, probably reflecting some network lag. We then grabbed separate jets and practiced some formation flying. I noticed no lag. We finished by landing on the carrier in a cruelly stiff crosswind. What a great game (nay, SIM!)!

Oh man…I just missed you guys. I only had a few minutes to play…I logged on and looked for the servers…but realized too late that I was on the beta-build not stable.

Yeah…I usually use OBS Studio or NVidia Shadow Play to record the screen. You also have to make sure it is at least a clear/clean window or fullscreen…and you might have to move your mouse cursor off the screen.

That was a lot of fun. Eric is far better at flying in formation than I am!

Maybe next time Chris. I’m just going to post here whenever I have a block of time to play and then host a private session under Mudspike, with a password of mudspike. If we all do that then I think we have a decent chance of finding someone to fly with.

Real life got in the way today, but I definitely hope I get a chance to log some flight time with y’all.

Not true. I was hand-flying when you were formed on me. You had the curtesy to use the autopilot.

How does it work when you join a session that is already…uh…in session… Does everyone have to be in the lobby prior to embarking? I’ve never actually played a MP session in VTOL VR…

Great idea. So stupid question…if I’m flying a campaign…does that count towards the progress if I play it in multiplayer?

Oh…and does anyone know how to create skins for the game? I’m thinking we need an awesome Mudspike livery… Paging @komemiute:rofl:

The briefing room is effectively a lobby. If the mission is already in progress then you can select an open aircraft slot, arm the aircraft up and launch into the mission. If you want to jump into an open crew slot on an aircraft that is already spawned, the current occupant of that aircraft gets a pop up message asking if they agree to let you join.

I’m guessing not… but I could be wrong on that. Only one way to find out.

I’m going to play now if anyone is interested in joining for a couple of hours.

When I get home from Target (not moving. Yay!), I see if you are around.

Unfortunately I will be heading out on the road later this morning. Real life flying really does get in the way of me being a virtual fighter pilot! . I know it has been said many times here already, but it’s true! The RL flying does pay better though! .

I’m considering bringing my Q3 with me. I might be able to squeeze in some VTOL VR while I’m stuck in the hotel room. I doubt the connection will be good enough to host a session though.

I’ve just briefly dabbled in the “Operation Liberation” dynamic multiplayer campaign. I think it is perfect for a handful of 'spikers to spread our atomized selves all over the map (meaning it is hard). Anyone notice the 3D map in the briefing room? It is much like the one in Return of the Jedi. For the umpteenth time VTOLVR has me asking, “Why can’t DCS do that?!”

Cool. I will have a look at it. I will be available to play evenings and sometimes days for a few days probably. Not on call…so just normal ferrying kids to schools and soccer practices and games.
