Holy crap, that Portishead song…

Tuesday’s installment for Canada Day 150 week …

YYZ is the IATA airport identification code of Toronto Pearson International Airport, near Rush’s hometown. The band was introduced to the rhythm as Alex Lifeson flew them into the airport. A VHF omnidirectional range system at the airport broadcasts the YYZ identifier code in Morse code. Peart said in interviews later that the rhythm stuck with them. (-.-- -.-- --…)

How awesome is that!!! My favorite instrumental next to La Villa Strangiato …

Listening to the new Portugal the Man single brought me here:

Its “hump day” so I’ll go with a really hard working (almost Southern rock style) band out of Hamilton Ontario … Monster Truck …

#550

It’s a good place to be, another fav of mine from Electic Guest is Awake

Funny contrasts in my music lately, but that’s how I roll:

I get to YYZ quite a bit…usually out of Bermuda. Used to listen to Rush a LOT in college…

#555

Must have had Jenneke in it. @Navynuke99 will be disappointed.

#556

Very cool! Hey, have you ever flown into YTZ? (Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport … I always call it Toronto City Center or the Toronto Island Airport)

Gotta love the old days of RUSH! …

#557

Nope…never been in there…been in Kitchener…that’s about it over in that area…

#558

Nice. I love the Kitchener Waterloo area. Lots of German heritage, Amish people etc. Did you know Kitchener used to be called Berlin? Back in the early 1900’s there was a lot of tension between the British and German citizens and the name was changed in 1916.

On my way out to Kitchener along HWY 401 I always admire the threshold to Reid’s Field …

Looks like the guy has his own airstrip. :slightly_smiling_face:

#559

Brits and Germans huh? Great beer but nothing to eat in that town… (LOL…j/k…)

#560

And a fishing pond! He’s livin’ right!

#561

You mean that water feature in front of his Mansion?

I’ve seen this scenario before … guy works hard building a construction company (Reid’s Heritage Homes) and then says “I’m going to let other people run this thing and do what I love!”. Apparently whoever Reid is charters private jets from there. Pure conjecture on my part but the owner of the previous company I worked at did the same thing.

#562

Oh crap, I forgot the Thursday installment of Canada Day 150 week! …

#563

@Navynuke99 will be disappointed.

Well, being navy, this would really suit him!

Nobody like it? That’s a genuine BBC program, you know! From back in the days when they used to actually have decent series such as that one (Men Behaving Badly), Rome, Band of Brothers etc etc. Nowadays it’s complete rubbish.

#565

Yeah, I remember it. Red Dwarf, The Young Ones, Black Adder, Blind Date (lol!)…

…O’er, 'ang on just a tick mate, while we’re here on this thread and on that last subject…

PS: Ok, where’s the wooden spoon, you bent sausage? I’m pulling your leg!
