It doesn’t get much better than this. ![]()
@saghen, Dana Carvey and David Spade produced and EXCELLENT look back at Chris Farley with their podcast “Fly on the Wall” to commemorate Chris’ passing 25 years ago on December 18th, 1997 …
Wow, I just noticed both parts combined are close to five hours! Great listen though … I started yesterday and finished today.
White Christmas
Saw it in my Netflix queue and decided it might be time to actually watch it. Not likely to become an annual watch but it was fun to watch a movie that was made in the 1950’s. Lol, Rosemary Clooney was not how I remembered her though since in my mind she was already 20 years older than in this flick. Have to say, She was a looker in her day.

You know what, maybe it is old age or nostalgia, but we find ourselves dragging out those old classics at this time of year.
Such as ‘Holiday Inn’. Another one with Bing Crosby and Fred Astair (a favourite of the Bride), ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, etc.
Before you know it, our Xmas tradition, Christmas Vacation, will be considered a classic? It is getting on in years - I still struggle with Rusty = Leonard from the Big Bang Theory!
I watch Christmas Vacation every year and never noticed that…
Loved the movie but loved the scenes with Nicolette, Mary the underwear salesgirl, the most.
Nicolette Scorsese

Just kidding. Hey, I’d be mesmerized by her pussycat too … but that wears off and then the true ditz shines through. ![]()
Now that he actually has to earn a living and support someone who comes across as ‘very high maintenance’, I guess he has to make money somehow?
I don’t hate the Royal family, but I am a Republican at heart.
Edit: By Republican I mean that I support Australia becomming a Republic, not in the US GOP sense… In fact if I could vote in US elections, I’d probably be a Democrat?
The SIlencers
The Silencers was the first of 4 Matt Helm movies made by Dean Martin. Lol, they are definitely movies of their time.

I watched it on Crackle with a crap ton of commercials but for now it is available on Youtube without commercials it seems?

Video quality is not as good though since it is capped at 720p.

Just watched this movie for the first time. Don’t know how could I have missed this gem for so long.
I enjoy David Lynch movies and was surprised to see the producer being Mel Brooks, who is familiar to me from quite different kind of movies (comedy).
Anthony Hopkins is as good as always. The movie is filmed in black and white even though it is from 1980. Deeply moving movie with deeper meanings.
Some trivia (possible spoiler)
According to IMDB trivia, real life John Merrick was not generally mistreated as the movie depicts, and many events never occurred. This is relief to read.
Just watched this movie again after two decades of the first time. Quite a good movie.
I remember liking the action and humour when watching it a bit younger, and now seeing it contain some social criticism as well.
My wife is absolutely 100% convinced that this film is about me.
This time of year, I always have a preference for this movie. Prefer the old “black and white” version but the colorized is superb as well. Just something magic about this movie.
Season 3 of Jack Ryan … since we’re on the brink and all!
…
EDIT: The last three episodes of Season 3 were really, really good.
Haven’t seen a one, is the series any good? I really liked Krasinski in the Benghazi movie.
Krasinski ROCKS Jack Ryan.
Agreed. Pam was good for him.
Has anybody watched the TV series “for all mankind”
Its absolutely bloody incredible. We are just watching the end of the first series and its without hyperbole, the best tv i have ever watched.
I cannot explain how absolutely fantastic it is. Laughs, tears and absolutely spectacular space and 60’s scenes.
If the russians beat the Americans to the moon. Is the whole premise and its done so well and so respectfully.
Yep, watched all three seasons. It’s really well done.
