What we watching? – Mudspike at the movies

This evening we went back to a much-watched favourite - Tremors.

I like the German title myself (which is rare - usually their titles for dubbed films are terrible):

“Land der Raketenwürmer” which basically would mean land of the rocket worms! Though it does give the game away I suppose.

I think Fred Ward is awesome - I can’t believe how hard it is to even find info about one of his earlier films and impossible to find the film itself, let alone see it on TV - “Reno, Unarmed And Dangerous”.
When I was a young soldier the guys had it on very often (on VHS) and they loved it - so I got to see it many times.

–Ah! Because I was spelling it wrong! I was searching for “Reno” instead of Remo.

Not my favorite Tarantino flick, but close.

29 years ago today, we lost (arguably) the best Formula 1 driver, Ayrton Senna. Check out the 2010 documentary if you haven’t. You don’t need to be a racing fan to appreciate this well made documentary. (And if you walk away with dry eyes, then you’re not human.)

Don’t forget Herr Ratzenberger. I was watching on TV in my apartment in Berlin and hung a tribute flag for the pair of them from my balcony for a year.

Thank you I enjoyed that.

There are two motor racing documentaries that I have lost count of the number of times that I have watched. One is this Senna doco and the other is ‘Too Fast to Race’ (Group B Rally).

Likewise, there are two ‘hotlaps’ that I never tire of watching, coincidentally both from 1988. Senna’s sublime qualifying lap at Monaco in the MP4-4 and Ari Vatanen setting the Pikes Peak record (Climb Dance).

Guess what I am watching today once the chores are done

Speaking of racing… and video games… (based on a true story

So when is the DCS movie? :man_shrugging:

iRacing has put more drivers in real cars than gram turismo.

Unfortunately, the racing documentary that always sticks in my mind is the one about how dangerous it all was. Grand Prix - The Killer Years.

Bloody awful.

There is no way that is true. Not a chance. Gran turismo is responsible for more Japanese car sales, car culture, jdm, drift and the absolutely insane appreciated cost of 80’s 90’s and 2000s car prices.

An absolute phenomenon the 1st 2nd and 3rd gran turismo games were in the case of car sales and culture shift around the cars.

its also probably responsible for more real car crashes than any other game … I know for a fact that I shouldn’t go anywhere near a real car for a couple of hours after playing

I really liked him in Carnival Row (finished watching the second season a few days ago).

Yes, that was a good show. Not sure if I’ve seen him in anything else after the Hobbit.

Pirates of the Caribbean maybe? Or was that before? I am getting old…
