What we watching? – Mudspike at the movies

Hunt For Red October again last night (currently on Sky, UK). That’ll be quite a few times we’ve watched it - I read the book a couple of times before the film was made, but can’t remember it enough now to make comparisons any more.

And only one Matrix

As usual there’s an XKCD for that.

Though I LOVED The Animatrix, and the two single player games that were released. Never got into the Matrix Online though.

Also, the soundtracks and aesthetics of all three films definitely had a lot of impact on me in my 20s.

Animatrix was great, i should watch that again sometime.

Matthew Perry is dead, but Chandler Bing is still with us.

Gutted to hear about Perrys death. I know the guy struggled… He was only 3 years older than me.
His performance in Friends was incredible. That show meant a lot to me as it premiered over here just before I pulled up my roots and moved to Norway. And when I attendend flightschool, the TV room at the dorm was packed with students every tuesday, watching the show. It covered an important time of my life.

Friends was a great show and Perry was a great part of it.

I hope he has found peace now.

That is really sad to hear. I was never a Friends fan, but loved him in ‘The Whole Nine Yards’

Yeah, I liked that one too. Maybe I should watch it again…

Loved the whole nine yards! I had a huge crush on Natasha Henstridge though.

Wow 54 is no age these days - sad because Friends was one of the best US comedies IMO.

Saw on Amazon yesterday. Very entertaining 90s style popcorn action flick, but don’t go looking for any realism anywhere.

We are actually currently on our umpteenth watch-through of Friends. We have all of the 10 series on DVD (unfortunately bought from Fleabay and turned out to be copies) but currently watching on Netflix.

I read a short bio on the beeb today - seems he was actually the same in life as he was in the sitcom. One quote from his memoirs that I liked:

It wasn’t that I thought I could play Chandler. I was Chandler

RIP

I must be in the minority for liking Blade 2 as much as I do. I think Blade was hampered by the villain, Dorff, but 2’s was much better. It’s hard to recognize Thomas Kretschmann under all his makeup but he’s excellent, and the uber vampire idea was better to me than the blood god/poor CG blob in the first.
Also it had a phenomenal cast including Ron Perlman, Norman Reedus, and Donnie Yen.
But it’s also very much a Guillermo del Toro film, so if you like his style you like Blade 2 and vice versa.

I also think Kris Kristofferson is one of the best Marvel sidekick actors ever on screen, there’s no bad moments while he’s there. Note they killed him off early in Blade 3…coincidence?

I know this isn’t a movie, BUT I couldn’t find the “hey, what youtube channel are ya diggin right now” thread and it is what I’m watching. I binged about 2 hours of “The Fat Electrician” today. I haven’t laughed like that in a while. My face hurts from laughing so much. This guys combines 3 of my favorite things: History, Comedy, and Sarcasm. He basically takes history, breaks it down barney style, and throws some of the best one liners I’ve heard. This one may be of particular interest to us.

Watched Street Fighter with the family at the weekend.
I don’t care if its an awful film. I love it. Raul Julia was absolutely awesome as Bison.

Obi was on the edge of his seat and I’ve never seen a kid eat so much popcorn so fast. Wife fell asleep.

THIS! He was also battling his deadly disease while filming. A true powerhouse of a man.

You’re not from Norway?

No, Sweden. But I have lived longer in Norway now and I have dual citizenship.

What’s funny is if I wanted to move to the neighboring state of Georgia it could be a farther move than for you to move from Sweden to Norway.

It’s 370km from where I live to the nearest town in Georgia, I just checked. That is the shortest distance I could go to move out of state! Anywhere else is much much further.
I see Oslo to Stockholm is only 520km.

Yeah, it’s entirely possible to move just a few kilometers, over the border.
My move was about 1000km in a straight line. But switching countries means quite a lot of bureaucracy in addition to finding new friends, starting a new job, etc.

Lol, moving between states is not all that different.
