I could watch Kylie all day
Out of interest, what kind of bureaucracy is involved when moving in the US?
I had to apply for a new id number before I could even open a bank account, get a landline, TV, etc. My first salary was cash
While federal stuff is the same, local gov’ts love to exercise their reason to exist by doing things just different enough from another state along with not honoring other states’ forms, licenses, etc.
Now I personally have simplified my life by never having resided outside of Florida since 1974, but I know for people who come here (which by my back-of-the-napkin calculations is like 75% of the current population…) there are a lot of things they need to do.
Ok wow. I just looked up some info. The populations of Sweden and Norway in 2023 combined is lower than FL’s population in the year 2000 by 1 million! We have increased by 6 million in the past 22 years. Then there are the tourists which can be a VERY large number, especially during holidays and the winter!
Our population density is 415/sq mi (or 160 per sq km) while Norway is 37/mi (14/km) and Sweden is 65/mi (25/km).
So when I complain about the traffic, crowds, and congestion here, you know of what I speak.
Sounds a lot like here. Any powers not reserved for the Federal Govt in the Constitution (and it isn’t a lot - defence, border control and taxation are about it) are up to the State, which is why each has it’s own police force, education system, licensing system (everything from pets to motor vehicles), etc.
That made it a nightmare every time every time I got a posting and during my time in the Army I have lived in every State and Territory except Tasmania… most of them at least twice. What really sucked was getting posted from NSW to Queensland and then a year later getting posted back to NSW
That is literally what our constitution says. I’ll leave the political views out of this.
I have lived in 7 states AND England. Normally it’s just swapping out your drivers license and re-registering your car for the state, although you do have to pay state taxes in both states. Federal is just the address change at the post office. Local/Municipal is water/sewer/trash/electric. It’s an afternoon worth of effort all in all. It’s not bad. At most, maybe a day- unless your car has issues and that could complicate things. I usually get my internet set up that same day, as well.
What is not widely known is that Australia is a ‘Federation of States’ (as well as being being a constitutional monarchy, with King Charles III as our Head of State… Represented by our Governor General).
We did not have a Federal/Commonwealth Govt until 1901, our National Capital from then until Canberra was ‘completed’ in 1927 was Melbourne and (IIRC) our Constitution is loosely based on the US ‘Constitution of the Confederate States’.
I just watched Disneys Moana with the girls. It was nice and at times downright beautiful. Loved the ending.
By the way, do not google why in Europe it’s named Vaiana…
Seriously, you say that and expect us not to?
I get a couple of reasons and am guessing that it isn’t due to the trademark registered in Spain but rather the Italian ‘actress’?
Well there you go XD
Did you seen the medley with all language translations? It blew me away! How the hell do they do this? The singers have all the same voice.
It is really a fun movie. We liked it as well.
My daughter loves it. We’ve had to watch it about a half million times now.

Pretty cool video using a drone to fly most of the way around the battleship.

For any other terminator fans here …this looks interesting and from the brief description, I’m hoping that we see the judgement day war
This makes me
Loved 1. LOVED 2. loved 3. Really liked salvation. Dark fate was ok. The other one (genimiss?) Sucked
This could be awesome
I just have a problem with anime style. It just…irks me. Hate the hair. Hate the shaky freezes characters do. Hate the “ripped from the page of a comic book” background whatever when a character is either moving fast or emotional. No human eye is larger than their mouth, aside from when they are shouting and you can fit another human head inside said mouth.
Stories are often good and the acting can be as well, but the style…just, no.
Nice find Lee
And @Victork2 why I loved the Sarah Conner Chronicles was that it erased Termintor 3 from the timeline
