I have just finished re-watching Ashoka so I have decided to start with Rebels again.
Damn, I had forgotten how good it is; for a ‘kids show’… and how much of an a-hole Chopper could be.
You misspelled “war hero.”
I still seriously love that show- I’m looking forward to showing it to the kids when they’re a bit older.
Between everything else I’m doing I’ve got a rewatch of the Clone Wars in proper chronological order also going on, slowly.
How come I have never even heard of this movie…?
Troll, you live under a stone, under a lot of snow.
Not that attentive, are you?
Hollywood has actively hid this movie from people like you.
All of the above.
I literally have no idea- but either I was not in a receptive environment or there was factually horrible marketing.
It’s a total HOOT
Now I need to see it!
Hey, it’s my first day of my winter vacation and nobody seem to be releasing any DCS modules in the next few days, so…
The Nice Guys was great! Have you seen ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’?
Similar vibe, both leads were great in that one too.
I really want to- but I can’t find it on any of my streaming subscription yet.
Also same vibes as it was written by the same guy Shane Black
After Crystal Skull I wasn’t interested in any more Indy sequels but I watched Dial of Destiny today after you guys talked about it. I actually liked it. The de-aging CGI was a bit sus on occasion and I’m tired of the time travel theme that’s been in literally every adventure/superhero movie and drama recently, but overall I felt like it recreated the vibe of the originals.
I lost count of the number of belly laughs I had…
Great flick!
I really don’t understand how I could’ve missed it.
Thanks for the tip, @komemiute!
I’ve got one of the classics we watched often from my old profession going in the background. Makes me laugh every time.
Same here. In fact I think I need to watch that again, right meow.
“I swear to God I’ll pistol whip the next guy that says shenanigans!”
“Hey Farva! What’s the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy ■■■■ on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?”
“You mean Shenanigans? You’re talking about Shenanigans, right?”
Cannot believe next year it’ll be a decade since I’ve worn a uniform…Feels like another lifetime.
I have been waiting for this and if you have an Apple subscription then it is definitely worth watching. Only just finished the first episode but it is really good.
Definite ‘Event Horizon’ vibes and Noomi Rapace is excellent as always.
Watched episode 2 as well, still very good but there are a couple of things that jarred -e.g. the guy on the radio at mission control saying “this is a recorded message” - but loved the easter egg reference to Apollo 18
So having watched all three of the Dunes now, I can definitely appreciate them each for different things.
The Denis Villeneuve version is so far a spectacular masterpiece, and I’m really, really liking his casting decisions. The pacing so far has tracked really well with the tone of the book, and I’m very excited to see some of the more metaphysical scenes in part 2- and really curious to see how he portrayal Allia- Alicia Witt is going to be hard to top in that role.
I ended up enjoying the miniseries version a lot more than I thought I would (the whole thing is posted on YouTube), and I like how Chani’s role was much more prominent as partner and leader in her own right. The fact that they had a lot more time to play with me meant they were able to include a couple of scenes I wasn’t expecting - I’m glad the banquet scene was included.
Lynch’s costume and art design are still my favorite, and Patrick Stewart will always be Gurney Halleck to me- “ATOMICS!”
I have to say I’m disappointed we haven’t gotten any music on Balliset in the new movie- the songs were a really big part of the world-building.
The dubbing for Alia in Lynch’s film always ruined her for me.
Given all the buzz lately, it seems Anya Taylor-Joy is playing her in his film. I guess so if (when?) they do Dune Messiah and then Children of Dune she will be able to play Alia as an adult.
Must be some form of CG work to make her look like a toddler.
Saw last Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis last night and I am absolutely blown away.
As usual he manages to craft with artistry and passion another music infused movie that rocks. (Pun intended)
Brilliant and Unforgettable.
I don’t see why many despise Tom Hanks’ make up, I thought it was absolutely on point.
A solid 9/10
Why it’s because Tom Hanks is taking roles from genuinely old overweight actors who already look 95% like the colonel, of course.
So… in preparation for watching Dune 2 in the theater…I sat down with the boys to watch Dune 1… Am I just imagining it…ok…I’m definitely not imagining it…but I couldn’t hear and understand lot of the dialogue. Something about the volume and music mixing was just…terrible. I have a decent enough soundbar…subwoofer and satellite speakers. The center channel on the soundbar doesn’t struggle with other movies…but Dune was terrible. Still enjoyed the movie…but am I the only one that noticed this? We will be seeing 2 in an IMAX theater…so hopefully it will be better…
