Apparently when its time to party, she will party hard.

Nice if you to throw yourself in the trash.

Don’t be so hard on yourself though.

I was going to say the same thing about Vin Diesel’s Charger in the first ‘installment’ - Which is the only one I have watched BTW.

And the Veilside Rx7…

Whilst I can appreciate a well tuned rice burner, give me a thumping great >400ci V8 anyday… Injection is fine, but I’d rather be blown :yum:

I tried watching even the first two F&F films and couldn’t last more than 20 mins or so before I was just bored.
I wasn’t invested in the world, the characters, the plot, any of it.

Years later saw 7 or 8 on TV and tried watching them. Absurd stunts using obvious CG when it would kill real stunt performers while once again I wasn’t invested in the world, the characters, the plot, any of it.

It’s like those horror films like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, Halloween, etc. Huge number of films in a franchise that I save myself dozens of hours of watch time by not having interest in any of it.

Aaanyway. Me, my wife and the boy are currently running star trek TNG. We’re out of the rather rocky first season and onto the 2nd where it starts getting great. We’re loving it.

I gave it 26 minutes. Pretty much felt exactly like you minus the charity of finishing. I guess it is a dark comedy. And it is dark. It just isn’t funny. Also, the opening unfortunately gives off Ricky Bobby vibes. So my brain was set to that level of funny.

AH! There it is! You nailed it! It just isn’t funny. Damn, that’s the perfect description of the movie in a nutshell.

Look back at both Midnight Run and 48 Hours and you have a much better ratio of “real Story development”/Comedy.

I’m glad you kept going, it gets serviceable in the second season (so far as the “reset everything every week” paradigm goes), but it really gets good towards the end of the third season :+1:

And when you finish TNG, if you haven’t already, watch through Deep Space 9. That series is arguably the best Star Trek (I was resistant to that conclusion initially too, but I’m willing to fight over it now :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

As I’ve said before, film preference is a 100% relative thing! This reminds me of the time I finally took the chance and watched the Blair Witch Project. I simply could not comprehend what the big deal was about this movie. For me it was a complete nothing burger.

Whoa, best example of 100% relative- I loved the movie. Yes I watched it in the theater with a bunch of friends and only me and another guy couldn’t stop raving about it.

Interesting indeed the differences in perception. For me I simply didn’t find the movie scary at all and I found it a bit gimmicky. I should have just watched “The Shining” again for the 100th time.

I didn’t find it scary either- it was transfixing, enthralling.

My wife and I are almost through TNG now.
IMO still the best ST series.

My DS9 DVD box arrived yesterday, so we can continue with that. Technically we could even start DS9 now since IIRC DS9 season 1 and TNG season 7 are parallel.
Maybe Voyager after that, we will see.

I just have to check when to watch the movies. I think Generations is set after season 3 of DS9 and First Contact is after DS9 ends? Not quite sure. It has been a long time.

The TNG movies are a mixed bag for me. Generations and Insurrection I found to be subpar and largely forgettable but First Contact and Nemesis are excellent.

I almost hated Nemesis, but liked Insurrection, somewhat liked Generations, and I really liked First Contact.

Yeah I think First Contact is pretty much universally loved by TNG fans.
