What we watching? – Mudspike at the movies

Westworld is western SF in its first season and partly in its 2nd, but there’s no “space” in it.
Likewise John Carter sort of starts out as a western but morphs completely once they get to Mars.
Of course, you’ve got your ST episodes like Spectre of the Gun, Fistful of Datas, and North Star.
The last has one of Glenn Morshower’s many ST appearances (including one film) and is definitely one of the better Enterprise episodes.

for all 2000ad fans … this was pretty good for a fan made film

Holy heck. Low cost but still very impressive. I love 2000 AD comics…

Cool! I missed this was coming somehow, those stories are really fun - hope it turns out okay.

I was really worried about how they would pull this off. What makes Murderbot, Muderbot & so deadpan funny is the internal monologue.

Looking at the trailer, it seems like they understood this because it appears be a part of the show, that and watching soap operas (Sanctuary Moon), which also only takes part in it’s head…

I am cautiously optimistic.

Watched Oppenheimer last night.
Harrowing. I’m smitten.

I’m still in awe at how Chris Nolan managed to make a blockbuster box office hit from a non-mainstream subject matter and a historical figure who isn’t even known by much of the general population. Nolan is a freaking genius.

I love how the focus of the movie fluidly shifts from Oppenheimer’s passion for Physics, to the fear of the future, and finally to the reality of the feelings between him and Strauss.

I was afraid it would have been more monothematic.
I could have never hoped Nolan could go so marvelously smooth over the subject and keep me glued to the screen for the whole runtime.

Riveting and powerful.

Nolan is definitely one of the top directors of our time. Oppenheimer, Interstellar, The Prestige, the Batman trilogy and Inception are all first rate.

Memento, too! In the year 2000.

For those suffering a post season 2 withdrawal, some ambience to work, study, tinker, create or…refine by.

Isn’t that one of those shows like “The White Lotus” and “Succession” which are mostly watched by upper income white people?

IDK. Maybe. I’ve never watched White Lotus, not that it doesn’t have my curiosity, given the awards and because HBO usually produces more quality than quantity. The trailers probably don’t do the show justice, but unfortunately they present it as a cable version of Love Boat or Fantasy Island.

Nice to see your reemergence in Slow Horses, Gaius! Gary Oldman must be entertaining to work with.

Ok, I am kind of a Documentary Nerd, however I have been silent too long.
Most of us here really enjoy history. Here are my favorites on Netflix
This one is about the Proliferation of Nukes. History of Nukes if you will. Great Series.

There was a second season to my surprise. This one explained a lot about the reasons the US went to war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Again, a great Doc worth watching.

Finally this one is good but Im not sure if its been removed. It was a real riveter.
