What we watching? – Mudspike at the movies

I literally cannot remember a single thing about them other than the fact I’ve never felt the need to watch them again

Rogue One and Revenge of the Sith are pretty good too but yes, ESB is king.

When they came out, i very much enjoyed them. But they haven’t stuck with me at all like the others

I enjoyed them too. They are not great but absolutely good enough for me. Star Wars has never been peak cinema so they fit. Many people search for their flaws while they tend to ignore the flaws in the old ones. Heck, a lot of people decided that they hate them before they watched one minute.

Rogue One was…OK? It wasn’t bad but… I don’t know. Just not as fun for me. But I liked Solo a lot.

I guess I am the inverse Star Wars fan. I also liked C3P0 and the Ewoks in RotJ when it was cool to hate them. And JarJar was fun. Period.

Me too. Never saw the hate in them to be honest

My kids agree with me that my wife very much is C3PO. She doesn’t really dissent either.

Jarjar on the other hand, I found him kinda irritating yet also funny. I don’t like the combination of his Caribbean accent and his buffoonery very much.

Jarjar to schurem: Meesa thinkum yoosa not-a-be taking this’um tingting too seriously mon!

I think when watching starwars critically, it’s important to keep in mind that its for ten year olds (except Andor, that’s for us)

I think that sums it up for me as well. I saw Star Wars (not New Hope or Episode 4, just Star Wars) in the cinema when it first released and I was 10 years old, so I will always watch that with my nostalgia goggles on.

Any hate comes from Lucas’ constant tinkering with added CGI and changes (Han shot first, damnit) and Disney offering up three Episodes that were essentially a retelling of the original three films. I find a few of the characters ‘annoying’: particularly Jar Jar and Anakin (but that is mainly due to the performances of the the actors who porttrayed him). I can’t say that I hate any of them… except Ewoks, those ■■■■■■■ Ewoks…

I mean think about, they were all set to roast and eat Luke (and probably the others as well)… Evil little suckers.

Yeah the contrast between their looks and parts of their behavior was jarring.
Makes much more sense if you know that they were supposed to be Wookies originally.

Oh, that makes heaps more sense!

I thought the Ewok Genocide didn’t happen, or is that just in Legends now?

There’s a scene VERY early in “Truce at Bakura” describing the cleanup effort occurring in orbit around the Forest moon specifically to ensure that debris wouldn’t harm the Ewoks.

…and now this poses a question about the obviously massive pieces of debris that fell on Endor’s water moon that were found so many (I don’t remember exact numbers, and honestly don’t care) years later. But were also perfectly aligned for an ancient Sith dagger from the exact place the heros happened to land on said water moon.

Have I mentioned that I absolutely despise the last two sequels?

You ever notice how much Dedra turns the corners of her mouth down while at the ISB, vs when at home, with the exception of when entertaining her mother-in-law? Denise Gough must have worked hard perfecting that scowl.

Supposed to be season 2?
